SUMMARY:
- Initiate own technical programs, solve complex technical problems using both internal and external knowledge databases, bring high technical credibility in eld of expertise to the organization, recognize all aspects of SRNS needed in eld of knowledge, lead teams to solve complex technical problems.
- Apply technical experience in eld of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical elds, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features, such as complicated technical requirements, the application of new or specialized materials or processes, and difficult coordination or oversight requirements, into problem-solving and program planning.
- Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area of technical knowledge.
- Recommend engineering/ technical research programs for others in the group and assist in that planning.
- Develop solutions to complex technical problems in elds of expertise, be responsive to organizational needs in answering complex problems where judgment also has to be applied, organize and lead task teams to solve problems and fully utilize technical resources within the company, at assist in solutions.
- Identify technical areas where individual special knowledge can solve complex technical problems of interest to the company and DOE, and take much initiative in this effort.
Is oen ahead of management in recognizing need. Prepare plans, including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements, to address significant technical tasks within the department. - Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor budget expenditures, and review work quality. Include research, development, testing, and quality assurance requirements.
Communicate results verbally and in manuscript form. - Represent the company and SRS in technical areas to oversight groups and professional societies.
- May mentor less senior professionals in communication skills.
- Maintain technical expertise and bring credibility to the organization through recognition as a technical expert by the company and the DOE, through activities such as internal and external technical reports and/or publications, involvement in national professional organizations, and significant contributions toward maintaining the Site's mission and goals.
- Mentor less senior professionals as a means of transferring technical knowledge and insight.
- Recommend engineering and technology research, development and application programs for others and assist in the planning of such programs.
- Provide Structural Mechanics subject matter expertise to Design Engineering Staff. Primary
Responsibilities include equipment qualication (seismic analysis and testing), advanced FEA stress-strain analysis, impact analysis, dynamic loads, design of structures, systems, and components, extreme load engineering (seismic, explosion analysis, and impact), eld support and troubleshooting, and structural integrity. - Engineering services shall be provided per SRNS processes and procedures. SRNS will provide programmatic guidance.
