Job Description: Reporting to the Provincial MAID Program Manager, the Registered Nurse will facilitate the flow of care for patients and families engaging with the MAID program. Working to the full scope of their practice, function to assess, prioritize, plan, implement and problem solve aspects of the initiation of care associated to the request and provision of medical assistance in dying. The RN makes judgements on the basis of critical thinking and problem solving criteria while working within established standard practices and legislative requirements. Advocates and supports patients and their families in the request to received medical assistance in dying and works to facilitate a seamless patient journey. Provides information about medical assistance in dying to any interested patient or family and attends to provision of MAID with practioners as indicated. As a member of the Provincial MAID Program they are responsible for ensuring collaborative, professional and respectful relationships with patients, chosen families, colleagues and all other provincial interactions and engagement. The RN promotes and supports the Saskatchewan Health Authority vision of patient and family centered care and embodies the mission, vision and core values.

Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in acute area with preference to emergency medicine and or ICU.
- Minimum of one (1) year nursing experience in end of life care (palliative care) or community care.
Licenses
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Other Education and Training
- Nursing diploma is acceptable

- Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
