Director of Ticket Sales

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Director of Ticket Sales is responsible for leading ticket sales initiatives for the Houston Rockets, including season, group, and individual tickets. Works cross-functionally to develop sales strategies, manage staff, and drive overall revenue growth.

RESPONSIBLITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for working with the Vice President of Sales and Service to oversee ticket sales efforts of the team, including but not limited to, individual ticket sales, group sales, season tickets & partial plans.
  • Essential Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with Director of Membership Sales and Sr. Director of Membership Services continually to build a strong sales and service culture and consistently hit our team goals
  • Responsible for initial on-sale of ticket products; coordinate with other departments re: timeline, campaigns, marketing integration, and inventory management
  • Collaborates with other departments to develop strategic sales campaigns, ticket products and packages and identify opportunities for new sales
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing issues and solving problems and regularly communicating with staff
  • Develops department business plan, training strategy, scripts, policies and procedures. Prepares budget for both revenue and expenses annually
  • Supports growth of new season sales revenue by not only maximizing production within the sales department but also integrating and growing revenue production from other sales functions within the organization
  • Tracks, monitors, and reports sales throughout the year
  • Coordinates the development of new sales support materials including web pages, direct marketing pieces, and social selling presence
  • Responsible for sales campaign initiatives including select-a-seats, prospecting nights, creation of plans and programs, buyer incentives, group sales & event initiatives, etc.
  • Develops productive relationships with other departments including Marketing, Corporate Development, Ticket Service and Operations, and the Arena
  • Resolves seating problems/concerns/issues related to sales in a fair and consistent manner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience sales, preferably sports, hospitality or related industry; 3-5 years in management role.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized.
  • Must have high level of decision making and accountability.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Communicate (both written & verbal) in a concise and effective manner.
  • Must be able to interact and manage staff and business associates in order to reach sales and revenue goals
  • Must be able to identify and address issues or problems in fast paced environment
  • Must be customer service and relationship building oriented
  • Must demonstrate high standard of excellence
  • Must be proficient with Ticketing and CRM Platforms, as well as Excel and other standard sales reporting platforms


PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
  • The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
  • Nature of this position requires physical mobility and the ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
  • Must have ability to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed.
