Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance, operations, construction, restoration and emergency response.

The Class and Consequence Area team is responsible for identifying changes to population density, monitoring structures, outdoor public assembly areas, and roadways in order to determine appropriate Class Location, High Consequence and Moderate Consequence Area designations as well as supporting Occupancy Count and Consequence of Failure to support Integrity Management. The Class and CA Team supports the identification of necessary pipeline maintenance, assessment, strength test, and replacement projects within Gas Operations.
Position Summary
Provide GIS and database support for the implementation of risk management duties. Responds to queries and resolves technical issues. Leads and/or supports the preparation of annual regulatory reports. Support process improvements for the Class and Consequence Area Team, effectively communicate and collaborate across various workstreams within Gas Operations and Business including Assessment Planning & Execution teams, Asset Knowledge Management, Gas Transmission Mapping, IT, GIS Solutions, Engineering & Design, and all TIMP groups to ensure success of the Class, HCA, and MCA programs. This role will be required to understand and implement technical solutions related to relevant requirements of 49 CFR 192, CPUC General Order 112-F, and other regulatory and company commitments, standards, and policies. This position will report to the Supervisor of the Class and Consequence Area Team.
Position will require approximately 10% of travel time in work schedule.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (San Ramon).
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum:$102,000
Bay Area Maximum:$162,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
Provide advanced user support and data integration, with expertise in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, AGOL, SQL, Python, Model Builder, MS Excel, database management, project management, and process development
Develop and perform advanced data gathering, data integration, and quality control procedures for geospatial data, interface with data source systems to resolve complex issues; estimate impact of data issues to compliance and business commitments
Identify user quality control, support and data integration process improvement opportunities, gather input and agreement on new requirements and lead implementation, communication and training around process revisions/changes.
Lead special projects related to GIS. Develop reporting, progress tracking, and metrics sharing for executive summaries.
Create and update metadata and catalog GIS layers, including documenting work flow procedures for staff using GIS, both in the office and in the field.
Lead efforts related to the preparation of annual reports to FERC, (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), SEC (Security and Exchange Commission), OPS (Office of Pipeline Safety) and CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission).
Support advanced enterprise GIS data modeling and data capture initiatives, develop and review software functionality requirements.
Lead GIS software, hardware and database projects and initiatives
Work collaboratively with other work groups and vendors, troubleshoot issues, produce technical communication
Lead projects and efforts related to opportunities for improvement in the way work is done, share expertise and lessons learned
Demonstrate by personal action a 100% commitment to employee and public safety.
Accurately identify Safety Critical Elements.
Provide integrity assurance input to the Integrity Management Program group.
Coach and mentor other GIS Technical Specialists.
Qualifications-
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience
5 years of experience with GIS applications.
3 years of experience in the utility industry.
3 years of experience in ArcGIS 9.x or later.
Desired Qualifications:
PODS data model & relational database experience.
Integrity Management and Risk Management experience. Understanding of Class Location, High Consequence Area, and Moderate Consequence Area code, concepts, and impacts,
Project Management experience.
Certified GIS Professional, advanced coursework with SQL, Python, Model Builder, LiDAR data acquisition & usage.
