Where You Will Work
Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, and more. Our flexible work program allows employees to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. Description
Responsible for management and oversight of strategic metallurgical projects specifically the extractive metallurgical performance of future processing plants. Develop production (including appropriate financial) forecasts to enable economic trade-offs to be conducted and new process flow sheets for expansions, utilizing long range forecasts. Promote Industry Best Practices at operating companies across FCX. Continuous improvement of production planning and forecasting.

What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $134,000-$187,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process. Description
Responsible for management and oversight of strategic metallurgical projects specifically the extractive metallurgical performance of future processing plants. Develop production (including appropriate financial) forecasts to enable economic trade-offs to be conducted and new process flow sheets for expansions, utilizing long range forecasts. Promote Industry Best Practices at operating companies across FCX. Continuous improvement of production planning and forecasting.
- Lead strategic project planning including project identification and formulation, whilst agreeing decision methodology and evaluation with key stakeholders and outlining resources to assist with project executive. Lead the development of documentation of Feasibility Studies.
- Interact with the internal and external resources on the company's growth projects. Accountable for achieving project schedule and cost outcomes and regularly communicating project status and outcomes to stakeholders
- Perform metallurgical accounting audits at Grasberg mine site concentrators and the Manyar and Gresik smelters.
- Perform other duties as requested:
- Preparation of annual budgets and resourcing plans
- Recruitment of new personnel for team
- Supporting 10k reserve estimation by providing metallurgical recoveries for various ore bodies
- Preparation and presentation of update material to FCX executive management and external business partners
- Preparation and presentation of technical materials for patents and conferences
- Maintaining and expanding a network of contacts in the industry focused on extractive metallurgy and mineral processing
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and ten (10) years of experience in mineral processing, including five (5) years of experience in a mineral processing concentrator and three (3) years of experience working on large growth projects involving mining and engineering companies.
- Strong working knowledge of geo-metallurgical testing, data interpretation, and modeling tools for forecasting.
- Strong working knowledge of analytical techniques and complex mineralogy of large Porphyry copper deposits.
- Demonstrated history of interpretation of geo-metallurgical results and performance of regression analyses and/or simulations to develop grade and recovery models for ore types.
- Demonstrated data-centric capabilities that use a structured problem-solving approach using statistics and regression tools. A working knowledge of Python and C# is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialized technical expertise in 3 disciplines and good general knowledge in 5 disciplines. Disciplines include crushing, grinding, flotation, copper smelting, precious metal refining, solvent extraction, electrowinning, liquid-solid separation including thickening and filtering, tailings, materials handling, process modeling and simulation, statistical analysis, process control, sampling and assaying, and metallurgical accounting.
- MBA or related certification/experience in financial and economic evaluations
- Energetic, excellent communication skills, ability to execute.
- Management of large and complex projects covering several disciplines.
- Excellent cross-discipline communication skills.
Criteria/Conditions:
- Willingness and ability to travel to Mine Site(s), up to 90 days per year.
- Must be able to work at the Grasberg Minesite Milling Complex, at an altitude of 3,000m.
