Description:

The Northern Manhattan Rehab and Nursing Center seeks a certified, compassionate, and committed full-time Director of Therapeutic Recreation with strong leadership and supervisory skills. Candidate will be collaborative and focused on resident well-being.

Director of Therapeutic Recreation Responsibilities:
Develop, plan, and implement a monthly calendar of engaging and meaningful recreational programs and activities and plan special events based on the individual needs of residents
Ensure that recreation services are scheduled seven days per week, posted throughout the facility, and comply with policies and guidelines as well as state and federal regulations
Set up and lead therapeutic activities to help residents with physical, mental, or social health
Maintain all documentation requirements, such as MDS, care plans, discharge summary TR sections
Develop and implement a departmental Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan to continually monitor areas of recreation that involves health care delivery and resident quality of life
Participate in morning meetings, care plan meetings, QAPI meetings, and any other meeting as directed by the Facility Administrator
Manage recreations department staff and assign activities/tasks/deliveries/programs
Prepare a monthly staffing schedule that includes evening and weekend and holiday coverage and track staff PTO requests
Document/track resident attendance during activities and resident council and review activity assessments for residents
Take minutes of meetings and ensures that all resident concerns are followed up and resolved.
Organize & obtain department supplies
Adheres to all facility and corporate policies

Director of Recreation Qualifications:
Must have LTC or skilled nursing facility experience (REQUIRED)
Must have valid certification in therapeutic recreation (REQUIRED)
Experience in care planning, MDS and overall program management (preferred)
Possess excellent interpersonal skills and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Schedule:
Monday to Friday (hours can vary on event days). Occasionally required to work the weekends, evenings, etc.
