Interested in serving as a Vice President and leader for a high-growth healthcare company? Optum Community Pharmacies are part of the broader Optum Pharmacies business and include behavioral health, long term care, and infusion pharmacies.

The Community Pharmacy VP is a senior level position responsible for the end-to-end P&L, including consolidated financial planning and analysis, strategic planning activities and other corporate activities. As a key finance leader, this role is a member of the Community Pharmacy executive leadership teams and the Optum Rx extended finance leadership team, driving financial performance of the business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage / drive the consolidated financial budgeting, forecasting, annual plan cycles including appropriate reporting and analytics regarding consolidated financials. Drive the strategic planning process across the organization in conjunction with business leaders
  • Manage/drive the month-end close cycle
  • Manage consolidated reporting and analysis requirements including monthly results, Monthly Business reviews, Earnings release preparation and support, investor conference / investor meeting support and numerous ad hoc reporting requests
  • Support strategic decision making through an in-depth understanding of UnitedHealth Group, Optum and all competitors, industry trends, market dynamics and internal key indicators
  • Drive the development of key cost analysis metrics to understand and track appropriate cost structures, productivity and translate those into financial levers. Work with business and finance leaders to drive operational improvement and cost containment efforts
  • Partner with the business finance leaders to generate forecasts and provide support on trend analysis and other cost analysis activities; provide insights / reporting to ensure appropriate cost structures and targets are in place to drive desired business results
  • Partner with the business leaders to develop/support new pharmacy models that help drive growth
  • Develop solid relationships by proactively meeting with key leaders within finance and across the business
  • Collaborate with other Optum and OptumRx finance leaders on cross-organizational opportunities to drive growth
  • Provide exceptional team leadership with a focus on employee engagement, development, retention, and attracting top talent into the organization
  • Support inorganic growth initiatives, including execution of financial due diligence, support of M&A strategy and execution of acquisition integration

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • 10 or more years of financial management experience
  • 5 or more years of experience leading, managing, and developing a team
  • Scaled experience at managing end-to-end P&L, and driving financial results
  • Experience leading financial activities for large business unit
  • Solid business and financial acumen. Ability to anticipate planning, forecasting, and operational issues; determine the impact, and develop and implement an appropriate action plan
  • Solid ability to communicate effectively and efficiently at multiple levels of large, complex organizations.
  • Solid organizational, management, administrative and human relations skills, and a style which exhibits emotional maturity, leadership, collaboration, and teamwork
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex business problems and solid analytical skills with ability to drive transformational, consumer - centric change and manage long - term programs
  • Solid history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility, and partnering with business leaders. Must excel at building teams and collaborating across multiple distinct business groups
  • Ability to travel, approximately 25%

  • Healthcare experience
  • Pharmacy experience
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions

The salary range for this role is $191,800 to $364,800 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
