As the Investment Portfolio Sr Mgr., you will assist in the management and trade execution of the Institutional Investment Portfolio, Institutional Hedging Portfolio, and MSR Hedging execution within the Investment Office. You will be responsible for performing complex analysis and modeling to support investment strategies. This role will be responsible for interpreting the internal and external macroeconomic environment and strategic thinking to support CFG's financial goals and achieve optimal return on behalf of the Bank given an acceptable amount of risk. The incumbent will be tasked with solving complex problems as it relates to Investment strategies, identification of assets that fit the profile, and execution with a focus on how goals and objectives can be achieved while working to quickly identify innovative solutions.

Primary responsibilities include
  • Trade Execution: Responsible for the execution of TBAs, interest rate swaps, interest rate options, futures, Agency MBS, CMBS, CMOs, and other Non Agency products on behalf of the various portfolios managed by the team.
  • Driving Strategic Direction: Using an understanding of balance sheet risk factors and management goals that drive CFG performance, develop creative solutions to drive strategic direction of different team pillars or allocation decisions while factoring in macroeconomic and other factors.
  • Forecasting: Support for the financial forecasting, scenario analysis, and stress testing associated with the Securities and Derivative Portfolios.
  • Model Support: Assess, develop, and/or refine desk and production-based models (BlackRock Analytics) to support the team's pre-trade analysis and macroeconomic environment evaluation. Utilize desk models to analyze relative value, relation to macroeconomic factors, scenario analysis, and hedging strategies, communicating and supporting market thesis's.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Development and continued enhancement of month and quarter end reporting that supports ALCO, Board-level, and Investor Relations preparation and presentations. Daily economic and market surveillance that is broadly communicated. Development of dashboards supporting the Investment Portfolio, Institutional Hedging, and MSR Hedging on a daily basis that show exposures, statistical analysis, and relation to underlying market data. Gather data and analyze the Investment Portfolio to identify risks and opportunities while supporting the development of strategies to mitigate risks.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials
  • Required Qualifications
    • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Math, Statistics, or a related topic
    • Interest in financial markets, bank balance sheets, and developing creative solutions to problems
    • Experience transacting in Agency MBS, CMBS, swaps, swaptions, TBAs, and/or futures on behalf of an institution
    • Expert level Microsoft Excel skills
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Progress towards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation
    • Masters Degree in Economics, Math, Statistics, or a related quantitative subject
    • Python, SQL, and/or Matlab coding experience
