Position Specific Description

The Central Maintenance Department is looking for a Transmission Construction Lead to join their team in Miami, FL.

The selected candidate for this role will be responsible for:
Oversight of substation contractors for the foundation, conduit, grounding, structural and electrical construction in both energized and new de-energized facilities
Coordination of clearance planning and OSM (outage system) request to facilitate execution of projects
Contingency plan development and risk assessment
Material management (BOM, ROS, MRM) and collaboration with vendor contractors and ISC to maintain necessary materials for project
Reviewing project for constructability issues to reduce cost and inefficiencies
Ensuring completion and accuracy of project deliverables including but not limited As-Built documents, and project controls/invoicing, and systems updates (Falcon, Elements, AMP, PUR, SAP, FAC-008)
Assist with work scope development, philosophy document considerations, and participate in engineer walkdowns to ensure construction feasibility is obtained in the design.
Support interface procedures with Power Generation Department (PGD), Engineering & Construction (E&C), and Co-op entities during major projects
Coordinate and oversee implementation of mobile equipment in support of major projects

Job Overview

This role leads a team responsible for Transmission and Substation's construction projects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures projects are completed safely, within required schedule, budget, and in compliance
  • Oversees implementation of technical, regulatory, environmental and corporate compliance
  • Maintains day-to-day site coordination requirements to integrate transmission and substation construction projects
  • Ensures contractor safety participation through attendance and review tailboards, field risk assessments and oversees observation reviews
  • Ensures timely resolution and constructability of field compliance issues and actively supports continuous improvement
  • Reviews all project bids and ensures all required project permits are in hand, prior to the commencement of the project
  • Maintains thorough review and processes all project invoices
  • Develops realistic action steps, timetables and resources estimates for projects
  • Meets attendance and storm duty requirements and has the ability to work extended hours
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 6+ years

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Bachelor's - Engineering
