Fluor's Mining and Metals Business line in Vancouver, BC provides these engineering services to the mining industry globally with a focus on the engineering, procurement, and construction of processing and infrastructure facilities associated with the recovery of metals and minerals.
Piping materials Engineering at Fluor is broad in scope, with active participation in projects from feasibility studies and detailed design of mineral processing plants. As a Piping Materials Engineer or Specialist you would be responsible to provide support will all material related aspects of plant design including interfacing with vendors and clients, and possibly plant construction and start-up. Under general supervision and mentorship, you will apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices in piping materials related work and use independent decision skills on engineering problems and methods.
You will hold responsibility to:
Provide piping materials engineering support for pressure piping systems;
Provide technical support/consultation to projects during design and construction;
Prepare piping specifications including piping line classes, and fabrication specifications;
Perform technical bid evaluations for piping and valves;
Perform vendor drawing reviews for piping and valves.
Basic Job Requirements
Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy degree;
Minimum three (3) years of piping materials engineering experience;
Detailed knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping code and ASTM standards for piping and valve; materials for preparation of piping line classes and piping specifications;
Eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC as a professional registrant.
