We are seeking a System Engineer to participate in the design, development, test and maintenance of complex mission application software and database applications supporting multiple programs within National Security Space (NSS). Looking for someone who is (or is willing to become) a Domain/Subject Matter Expert in the Mission Management domain.

As a System Engineer you will:
Establish system architecture and CONOPS, perform system level design and decomposition into requirements
Perform system analysis and interface definition and management/execution
Support cost estimation efforts for new or modified functionality
Participate in studies and system trades for enhanced capabilities
Develop critical methods for new capabilities and applications
Convert Interface Control Document (ICD) descriptions into algorithms
Perform data analysis, test planning and execution
Participate in and coordinate design reviews and technical product reviews
Participate in failure investigations, anomaly resolution activities, and retrospective events
Develop plans to on-ramp new mission capabilities while protecting the primary mission
Provide guidance and coaching to other System Engineers on the team

This is an MID-SR CAREER (level 4) ROLE where candidates typically require 9+ years of professional experience and a BS degree or 7 years and a MS or above.

An active TS/SCI security clearance is required PRIOR to start. Candidates with active TS clearance will be considered with a contingency of obtaining a TS/SCI.

Basic Qualifications
Experience with System integration, test, and requirements validation & verification
Experience with System trade studies and System modeling
Experience with test planning and execution with an understanding of interdependencies
Experience using math and modeling tools for rapid prototyping, algorithm development, and visualization (e.g. Matlab, STK)
Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecyle and Systems Engineering processes including trade studies, design reviews and system verification
An aptitude for math and physics including vector and matrix algebra
Active Top Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/ poly.

Desired skills
Domain knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, maneuvers, and mission planning & scheduling
Agile software development experience (SAFe, Kanban, Scrum)
Experience with cost estimation based on high level requirements and specifications
Experience with Requirements and ICD development
Ability to utilize scripting languages (e.g. Python, Shell)

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $120,100 - $208,150. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
