Notified is adding a Sr Project Manager as Release Train Engineer (RTE) to our team in Woburn, MA. Our expectation at this time is you would work from our office, located at 155 University Avenue on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with flexibility to work from home on Monday and Friday.
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Sr Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and drive efficient delivery of large-scale software solutions. The RTE will facilitate Agile execution, manage risks, and optimize workflows while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Additionally, this role includes Incident Management, Release Management, SDLC KPI Management and Portfolio Management responsibilities to ensure smooth operations and strategic alignment.

Key Responsibilities
Program Execution & Agile Facilitation
- Serve as the servant leader for the Agile Release Train (ART), ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivery goals.
- Facilitates communication between Product Engineering, Product Management and Service/Operations for all ongoing and strategi software development activities.
- Facilitate PI (Program Increment) Planning, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt sessions.
- Drive the execution of Program Increments (PIs) and ensure teams meet their commitments.
- Remove impediments and manage risks across the ART to keep work progressing smoothly.
- Release Management of continuous deliveries to production, release notes, co-ordination of schedule across all scrum teams, product and operations.
Incident Management & Operational Excellence
- Act as the primary point of contact for major incidents, ensuring rapid assessment, response, and resolution.
- Coordinate with SREs, DevOps, and engineering teams to mitigate service disruptions and improve system reliability.
- Facilitate post-incident reviews (PIRs) and drive corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure clear communication of incident status, impact, and resolution progress to stakeholders and leadership.
- Drive adoption of best practices for incident detection, triage, and resolution across teams.
Portfolio & Project Management
- Align ART objectives with business strategy and portfolio priorities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and product managers to manage roadmaps, backlogs, and resource planning.
- Track, report, and manage SDLC KPIs, program risks, dependencies, and budgets.
- Ensure teams are working on the highest-value initiatives while balancing scope, time, and cost constraints.
- Use metrics and data-driven insights to optimize project execution and Agile maturity.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, QA, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities.
- Coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and teams in Agile best practices and SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) principles.
- Ensure transparency across teams by providing clear progress reporting and addressing bottlenecks.
- Advocate for a culture of collaboration, agility, and innovation across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
Agile & SAFe Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Agile program management, RTE, or in PMO role.
- Strong background of Software Engineering Lifecycle, experience in releasing software in SaaS based enterprise setup.
- Strong experience in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), with SAFe RTE certification preferred.
- Proven ability to coordinate and communicate with executive leadership of multiple teams in a large-scale software development environment.
Incident Management Experience
- 3+ years of experience in incident response and management in a SaaS or cloud-based environment.
- Experience handling critical production incidents, ensuring timely resolution and escalation.
- Strong ability to conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
Portfolio/Project Management Experience
- 3+ years of experience in portfolio or program management within a technology-driven organization.
- Strong understanding of Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) and Agile project management.
- Ability to manage budgeting, resource allocation, and risk assessment for multiple programs.
- Experience in using KPIs, OKRs, and reporting frameworks to measure project and portfolio success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in software engineering, DevOps, or cloud-based product development.
- Experience in a SaaS or enterprise software environment.
- Strong knowledge of Lean-Agile budgeting and portfolio management.
Education
