The Opportunity
Girard College seeks a dynamic and passionate Assistant Principal to support the overall leadership and administration of the school. This role reports directly to the Principal and plays a critical role in leading instructional practices, supporting educators, ensuring effective student support systems, and fostering a strong, inclusive school culture. The Assistant Principal will work closely with all stakeholders to help students achieve academic success and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

School Leadership and Administration
  • Support implementation of the school's vision, goals, and strategic initiatives
  • Oversee daily operations, student discipline, and stakeholder communication
  • Promote a positive, achievement-driven school culture aligned with Girard's core values
  • Represent the school with external stakeholders and community partners


Instructional Leadership
  • Observe instruction, evaluate lesson plans, and provide coaching for teachers
  • Lead professional development and support collaboration through learning communities
  • Analyze student performance data to improve teaching and learning
  • Collaborate on curriculum planning and effective instructional practices

Teacher Support and Supervision
  • Mentor and coach new and veteran educators
  • Support instructional planning, classroom management, and student engagement
  • Foster a collaborative and professional teaching environment

Student Support and Behavior Management
  • Oversee student discipline, restorative practices, and PBIS aligned with MTSS
  • Ensure policies around conduct, attendance, and performance are upheld
  • Engage families in supporting student behavior and academic success
  • Prepare documentation for disciplinary processes and scholarship reviews

Family and Community Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with families, alumni, and community organizations
  • Coordinate events and programs that promote school spirit and student engagement
  • Partner with external organizations to broaden student learning opportunities


Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in education or related field (Educational Leadership preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Valid administrative certification or in process
  • Valid teaching certification
  • Proven leadership in instructional support and student development
  • Strong data analysis and decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities
  • Proficient with technology and student information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus)

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to navigate school and office settings, perform administrative tasks, and work on a computer for extended periods
