Job Description
Provides leadership and support through the development and coordination of clinical services and programs for patients and families, managing team of Child Life Specialists. Serves as direct people manager of one or more teams within Children's Services and as a liaison to the institution for delivery of these services. Acts as a facilitator/coordinator/clinical supervisor of the staff functions within the team and acts as a point/resource person primarily within the team.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:
- Leads, directs and coordinates all aspects of one or more teams within Children's Services. Leads team in program enhancement, evaluation and development. Leads Lurie Children's and Family Services to develop and structure a welcoming, inclusive and developmentally appropriate environment that provides resources to assure clinical excellence for the children and families served.
- Directs and evaluates team-based QI initiatives. Institutes changes based on the outcomes of the evaluation of the QI process.
- Develops collaborative relationships with nursing, PFE, Family Services, donors, volunteers, and other internal and external stakeholders to provide an interdisciplinary approach to address the needs of patients and families.
- Participates in operational visioning and facilitates evidence-based delivery of appropriate clinical services. Plays an active role as key member in short- and long-term strategic planning for Children's Services and Family Services Division.
- Develops strategies to cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, affiliated groups and other program supporters. With director, acts as a liaison between hospital programs and donors and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Manages variance to daily operations. Collaborates with Director to creatively and strategically develop, implement and monitor a fiscally sound budget for capital and operational resources within Children's Services and Family Services.
- Demonstrates the authority to hire, separate, promote, demote, write and administer performance evaluations.
- Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in human growth & development, education, child life, recreation therapy, the expressive therapies or a related field. Knowledge of human development and family dynamics.
- Minimum of three (3) years of leadership or managerial experience in a relevant field. Prior experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
- Ability to think proactively, act creatively, execute process improvement and effectively resolve conflict. Excellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills including strong professional boundaries. Demonstrated ability to work as a part of multiple teams.
- Demonstrates leadership skills by assisting and encouraging the team to participate in identification of problems, formulation of action plans, and initiation of corrective measures and follow-up to make certain suitable action was taken.
