About the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Our department leads psychiatry education for the Dell Medical School and its post-graduate programs train mental health professionals to become 21st-century leaders in the fields of psychiatry and psychology. Clinical services provide informed, evidence-based care for individuals and families in multiple general medical and specialty behavioral health settings with an active and strong presence in community settings. Importantly, the Department is leading efforts at the University of Texas-Austin to execute cutting-edge basic and clinical research that illuminates the underlying neurobiological causes of psychiatric disorders and identifies novel treatments for psychiatric disorders.
About The Comprehensive Memory Center
The Comprehensive Memory Center (CMC) at UT Health Austin's Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences specializes in the evaluation and treatment of patients experiencing memory loss and cognitive decline. The CMC integrates a multidisciplinary approach, providing expert diagnosis, advanced treatment options, and comprehensive support services for patients and their families. The center is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with neurodegenerative conditions, including Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, through innovative research and personalized care. The candidate will participate in the CMC multidisciplinary team, providing psychiatric evaluation and ongoing treatment to patients.
About The Geriatric Psychiatrist Position
The Adult Psychiatry Clinic at UT Health Austin provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults with a wide range of mental health conditions. The selected candidate will specialize in the evaluation and treatment of older adults with psychiatric disorders, neuropsychiatric conditions, and age-related cognitive changes. This role includes providing direct clinical care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and contributing to the education of trainees, including medical students, residents, and fellows.
This position offers opportunities for professional growth, including leadership roles within multidisciplinary teams, engagement in research initiatives, and participation in community outreach efforts aimed at improving access to geriatric mental health care.

Qualifications
Required:
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to appointment.
- Board certification in psychiatry or board eligibility with a commitment to obtaining certification within two years.
- Completion of a four-year psychiatry residency program.
- Completion of fellowship training in geriatric psychiatry (Board Eligible or Certified in Geriatric Psychiatry).
- Eligible for credentialing and privileging at UT Health Austin.
- Eligible for a faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated expertise in geriatric psychiatry, including treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders and complex comorbidities in older adults.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration.
- A track record of scholarly activity and academic excellence, including teaching, research, or presentations at national meetings.
