Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a Manufacturing Analyst to join our team. This position will provide leadership to our Bacchus Value Stream team at our Bacchus Utah campus for the Nitroglycerin (NG), Binder and machining group

Role description & Responsibilities:

This Manufacturing Analyst is responsible for administrative assignments and implementation of improvement initiatives associated with the NG, Binder and Machining manufacturing process. Responsibilities to include Documentation of quality issues within the approved quality documentation system and working with Engineering, Quality, and when appropriate customers in the Cause/Corrective action of said quality issues. Tracking of metrology items and ensuring calibration requirements are maintained. Writing and processing of Damaged Tool Reports. The Initiation of Maintenance Work Orders and working with the maintenance planner to schedule maintenance work in the work center. Fills in for front line leader and department manager, as needed; and leads special projects. Must communicate effectively and initiate necessary actions to ensure that organizational goals are accomplished.
  • Create and improve area schedules and systems designed to support manufacturing stability and efficiency.
  • Understand demand vs. capacity for the NG Binder/Machining area, create and execute plans to support future needs.
  • Analyze Operational Availability data and develop plans with support groups for readiness to execute to future demands.
  • Identify opportunities for mistake proofing and create innovative solutions for Quality Improvement.
  • Develop innovative solutions to improve and simplify work.
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives. Provide coaching and support for improvement activities throughout the work center.
  • Communicate effectively, initiate and drive necessary actions to completion that ensure organizational goals are accomplished.
  • Develop knowledge and expertise to be considered a strategic SME for the work areas.
  • Resolve functional or process related problems/issues and makes sound business decisions.


Job Duties:
  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, TSPM's, and appropriate customers to develop schedules that support operations.
  • Work closely with TSPM leader, Operations Leadership and Program Mgmt. to understand future demand and timing and to drive needed improvements and investment.
  • Initiate appropriate support organization work orders for facilities, tooling and maintenance activities and track to completion
  • Coordinate production needs with scheduled maintenance work
  • Assist operations in preparing for various reports for the Value Stream
  • Assist with budget forecasts and analyses
  • Capacity and Operational Availability analysis
  • Track various metrics and projects
  • Other duties as assigned


This position may be filled at either a level 03 or level 04.

Basic Qualifications for a level 03:

Education/Certifications:
  • BS degree plus 5 years' relevant experience,
    • 9 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.


Experience Requirements:
  • Manufacturing experience to include familiarity with MM&IR, Safety, and QA procedures and policies NG/Binder or Machining experience is preferred,
  • Basic Computer Skills to include Share point and MS Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Skill in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and operating procedures,
  • Experience with problem solving and implementation of PES to improve flow and standardization of processes.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to apply lean principles.
  • Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture.
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety, and safety improvements.


Experience Preferred:
  • Familiarity with NG/Binder and Machining procedures and processes as they relate to the 6B30 processes.
  • Working with support group personnel, (Safety, Engineering, Production Planning, Quality, etc.)
  • Capital Budget process management
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain systems with regards to overall capacity as related to performance of a Value Stream.
  • Familiar with Northrop Grumman systems planning systems and Costpoint, for data analysis and improvements.

Salary Range: $78,700.00 - $118,100.00Salary Range 2: $98,100.00 - $147,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
