At U of T Mississauga, we are looking for an exceptional intermediate developer to join our ServiceNow team. ServiceNow is one of the leading PaaS providers, and UTM uses it to create custom applications to enable the work of our departments, support our ITSM practices, manage our strategic portfolio and programs, and provide visibility into our Infrastructure and Operations.

As a ServiceNow developer, you will be a vital team member creating and supporting these applications. You won't only be responsible for creating lines of code, though; you'll have the opportunity to own the work you do, consult directly with our clients, perform business consultation, provide strategic input, and manage the continuous lifecycle of the solutions you create.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Writing complex technical code
  • Designing, testing, and modifying programming code
  • Analyzing and writing programming code structures based on user requirements
  • Keeping well-informed on current technologies, best practices and industry standards
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Creating complex and technical documentation and user support guides
  • Training end-users on procedures and the use of supported IT systems

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of development experience in a heterogeneous environment, with a broad range of platforms and technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience coding efficient, object-orientated and modularized software.
  • Demonstrated experience working with JavaScript, JSON, XML, SOAP, REST, and associated frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational databases or database drive applications.
  • Experience with source control management systems
  • Experience with HTML technologies including HTML, CSS, and basic tags.
  • Proven track record of client-centric application design, i.e., use cases, personas, journey maps.
  • Experience implementing solutions that ensure security, integrity, scalability, and consistency of all user data.
  • Deep understanding of Software Development Life Cycles, system and application security hardening, source control management, vulnerability assessment, and enterprise patch management in a production environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of common scripting, markup languages, and data formats.
  • Excellent analytical, estimating, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate with clients professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to write technical specification, operational, and end user documentation.
  • Good product or project management skills.
  • Familiarity with process design, business analysis, and project management methodologies.
  • Strong commitment to a high level of customer service.
  • Initiative and the ability to work both synchronously and asynchronously in a hybrid work environment.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Development experience in ServiceNow application development and scripting, or similar PaaS and SaaS systems.
  • Experience working in a structure Change Management environment (CAB or equivalent body).
  • ITIL Foundation and/or DevOps certifications.
  • ServiceNow Certifications - Certified System Administrator, Certified Application Developer, or similar.
