THE POSITION
The Deputy Compliance Director, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, will oversee the city's Compliance Office and lead efforts to maintain and strengthen internal controls across citywide operations. This dynamic role involves conducting comprehensive reviews of city policies and procedures, assessing contract, performance/operational, and grant regulatory compliance, and supervising compliance and resolution staff. The Deputy Compliance Director serves as a key advisor to senior leadership, including the City Manager, Assistant City Manager, Department Directors, and City Council, providing expert recommendations and insights on compliance and internal control matters. The role is integral to ensuring adherence to auditing practices and government standards, all while championing a culture of accountability and transparency within the city's operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a closely related field; OR, equivalent related work experience; AND
At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible finance, auditing, accounting experience, including related analytical business experience; AND
At least five (5) years of experience in a management capacity.
License as a Certified Public Accountant or certification in auditing, accounting and/or related field is highly desirable.

The Financial & Management Services Department manages the City's finances and safeguards its assets. We provide a wide range of support services to other City departments including budget coordination; financial reporting; payroll; billing and accounts receivable; purchasing and central stores; accounts payable; cash management and investing; cashiering; technology services including network administration and security, enterprise systems and database administration, geographic information systems, backbone infrastructure and telecommunications; and maintenance service for all City facilities.
