PROGRAM SUMMARY

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) provides short-term (6 month), support to severely emotionally disturbed youths in multiple settings (home, group home, school, day treatment, and other areas in the community) through an intensive and strengths-based behavioral intervention program. Clinicians provide one-to-one support focused on the resolution of behavioral difficulties which place the youth's home placement at risk for a higher level of care (including acute care), or which hinder transition to a lower level of residential care. Clinicians work on-site with the youth to create positive changes in behavior, not only by reducing identified target behaviors but by increasing use of appropriate coping skills and/or replacement behaviors more conductive to maintaining placement. Clinicians also work with caregiver(s) and other significant adults to ensure that the progress made during services can be maintained after services have ended.

Similar to TBS, Intensive Home Based Services (IHBS) are individualized, strength based interventions designed to correct or ameliorate mental health conditions that interfere with a child or youth's functioning and are aimed at helping the child or youth build skills necessary for successful functioning in the home and community and improving the child/youth's family's ability to help the child function in the home and community. IHBS services are provided according to an individualized treatment plan developed in accordance with the ICPM by the Child and Family Team (CFT) in coordination with the family's overall service plan. They may include but are not limited to assessment, plan development, therapy, rehabilitation and collateral.
