We are seeking a Design Engineer to support our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will provide hands-on engineering guidance and real-time problem-solving within a fast-paced production environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring product quality, driving process improvements, and supporting engineering changes from concept through implementation. This position requires strong collaboration across functional teams and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges on the production floor.

What You Will Do
  • Support production with day-to-day guidance of engineering requirements and real time problem resolution within the manufacturing facility
  • Review discrepant material and perform design engineering analysis to support use as is, rework or scrap decisions
  • Complete Design Engineering analysis to support the technical substantiation for engineering changes
  • Write and ensure completion of engineering changes through configuration management
  • Support Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and transition to consistent production
  • Confer with other functional groups, customers, vendors and other stakeholders on existing and potential engineering projects or products
  • Review designs, drawings, and working plans to improve products and manufacturing process. This includes Root Cause and Corrective Action for production support problems
  • Perform engineering work and applied research with Test Equipment group to ensure quality standards and functional objectives are met
  • Analyze test results of design or rated specifications and test objectives


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Knowledge of Standard Drafting practices including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Experience with precision tolerancing and fits / clearances
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Manufacturing processes and strength of materials experience
  • Dynamics analysis
  • Teamcenter PLM software experience
  • Matlab, Minitab, Excel Macros
  • Computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • RCCA skills, Statistical Process Control, Lean Manufacturing

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
