WTW is looking for a commercial lines strategy underwriting expert with expertise in strategy, product development, underwriting, and pricing insurance experience in the U.S. market to join as an Associate Director in our Insurance Consulting and Technology (ICT) practice. In this role, you will lead client engagements and collaborate with our team of pricing, portfolio management, underwriting, finance, and claims experts to deliver consulting and technology solutions to our commercial lines insurance clients.

Our goal is to substantially increase our footprint as we advise Commercial Lines insurance clients on the efficiency and effectiveness of their Strategy, Underwriting, Pricing, Product Development, Carrier Operations, and Distribution and Sales capabilities. The Responsibilities

WTW is seeking a highly skilled commercial lines strategy underwriting consultant to join our team as an Associate Director. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in U.S. commercial lines in strategic planning, product development, underwriting, pricing, regulatory, and distribution. This role involves leading commercial lines propositions, client sales/delivery engagements, and serving as a subject matter expert in underwriting. You will collaborate with our team of pricing, portfolio management, underwriting, finance, and claims experts to deliver consulting and technology solutions to our commercial lines insurance clients.
  • Meet billable hour targets and revenue goals by leading or supporting client engagements from sale/pitch to delivery:
  • Listen critically to client challenges to scope, craft, and deliver on engagements.
  • Support the development of carrier relationships relevant to WTW's services, both by utilizing existing networks and cultivating new relationships, developing a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication.
  • You will be part of the core delivery team to execute project management, analysis, and synthesizing results, as well as creating the client deliverable to communicate findings and recommendations for commercial lines consulting projects such as:
  • Spearhead market entry strategic carrier reviews for new lines of coverage, market segments, or states.
  • Conduct competitive market analysis in rating and product to identify strengths, opportunities, and competitive gaps.
  • Perform best practice operational reviews.
  • Create, redesign, and review best practices pricing tools (in collaboration with actuarial), from small business predictive modeling to large account pricing across lines of business.
  • Conduct carrier strategic planning sessions to evaluate mission, vision, market position, and product offerings.
  • Lead product development innovation initiatives to differentiate offerings in specific market segments.
  • Lead merger and acquisitions underwriting workstream reviews and discussions.
  • Leverage market knowledge to serve as a subject matter expert in commercial lines across P&C lines from small business to large national account carrier segments.
  • Define and lead P&C commercial lines propositions and develop new propositions aligned with client needs and emerging trends.
  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Present at conferences and ICT podcasts.


Qualifications

The Requirements
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in U.S. P&C commercial lines underwriting and pricing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of core U.S. P&C commercial lines insurance products.
  • Experience in product development, underwriting, pricing tools, rating, regulatory and rating bureaus.
  • Capable of leveraging past experience and expertise to adapt to current projects and challenges outside of core skill set.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and developing innovative solutions.
  • Practiced in managing complex projects and doing the client work as well as delegating work to senior and junior colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and strategic planning skills with proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel to:
  • Synthesize and communicate concise consulting insights, recommendations, and roadmaps effectively using PowerPoint and present to clients.
  • Analyze data using Excel to support underwriting and pricing projects.
  • Available to travel as needed.
  • Comfortable selling ICT solutions including WTW's Radar technology.

Nice to Haves
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or similar are preferred.
  • Experience leading underwriting transformation projects.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, including claims, loss control, actuarial and technlogy
  • Understand actuarial principles and their application in underwriting and pricing.
  • Participation in a rotational underwriting training program with roles within home office and field.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, negotiation, risk assessment, policy analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Exposure to WTW's Radar technology.
  • MBA

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $170,000- $230,000 USD per year. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
