Job Purpose: The Coordinator of Behavior Services will work district wide in collaboration with the Director of Behavior Services, the Director of Behavioral MTSS, Education Services, central office, school administrators and staff for the purpose of supporting programs for students that are consistent with the total educational philosophy of the district; providing professional development and support to staff as they work with students; communicating effectively with families, school administrators and staff to enhance the effective delivery of behavior intervention techniques for students; co-facilitating/supporting district discipline committees (including DRC and Peer Jury) to ensure effective implementation and oversight in accordance with district policy and procedures; and work directly with administrators, staff and students to provide outlets and avenues for students to communicate with staff in the building while helping to empower students to develop leadership skills and build healthy relationships built on respect and trust.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explicitly model, through communication and actions, the core values and beliefs in the district's goals and mission.
- Execute tasks connected to the Strategic Plan in the professional development department.
- Provide professional development to administrators and staff on district approved topics and strategies as aligned to the D300 Strategic Plan.
- Provide professional development to administrators and staff on district approved positive behavior modification strategies and discipline (examples: CPI, Restorative Practices).
- Assess present developmental levels in critical domain areas for the purpose of implementing behavior intervention plans.
- Implement and support the progress of behavioral management programs for students to remediate behavioral and social problems.
- Collect data, maintain records, document, and write related reports for the purpose of ongoing behavior intervention service planning, discipline and academic review.
- Advise buildings daily on appropriate consequences for high profile cases to ensure consistent disciplinary practices. Document coaching of administrators who reach out for assistance or who need assistance based on identified needs.
- Utilize administrative procedures to provide discipline and best practices support for buildings.
- Support the management of the Substance Abuse program - Monitor contract staffing in buildings, track and evaluate substance abuse data by building, and collaborate with the program supervisor and Director of Behavior Services.
- Monitor the School Information System (SIS) behavior incident data including administrator delete requests and state reporting errors. Take appropriate action to review delete requests and assist buildings to correct discipline errors.
- Assist with bullying procedures including reviewing bullying incidents and utilize administrative procedures to provide direction to buildings.
- Communicate with students, family members, administrators and school staff for the purpose of sharing information, knowledge and skills.
- Communicate with family members, community resources and school staff for the purpose of building and maintaining positive, productive relationships.
- Collaborate with family members, community resources and school staff for the purpose of implementing intervention strategies to follow programs or specified behavior management plans.
- Assist the Director for PE/Health/Driver Ed and athletic directors regarding student Athletic Code of Conduct.
- Assist with case-management and team problem solving with other district staff, agency personnel and other appropriate personnel as needed.
- Participate and provide guidance in the development of individual educational programs for the students as needed.
- Update and maintain information related to parent training and provide such training.
- Coordinate and maintain a productive daily schedule that is shared with the Director of Behavior Services for the purpose of completing reports, instructional activities and other duties.
- Maintain appropriate records and data for the purpose of preserving the progress of behavior interventions, discipline and academic progress.
- Support the development and maintenance of program evaluation procedures.
- Support the facilitation of the Peer Jury process for secondary students aligned to the district progressive discipline guidelines.
- Participates in the Discipline Review Committee with the Director of Behavior Services and the Assistant Superintendent of High Schools; assists with record keeping and data collection needed for successful Discipline Review Committee meetings.
- Establish, implement, and monitor district procedure for behavior and discipline interventions.
- Oversee the district's Restorative Practices initiative. Coordinate district training offerings.
- Ensures compliance with annual budget for discipline budget, monitors, and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established guidelines. Provides monthly updates to the Director of Behavior Services.
- Assumes additional duties as delegated by the Director of Behavior Services, Executive Director of School Improvement and Accountability and/or assigned by the Superintendent.
Education:
- Illinois Professional Education License with General Administrative or Principal Endorsement through ISBE
- Minimum of five years teaching experience and previous administrative experience.
Knowledge:
