Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Market Development
- Develop and implement business development initiatives for both public and private sector markets across the region.
- Utilize knowledge of government procurement processes, municipal capital plans, and private sector trends to identify and prioritize opportunities.
- Conduct market research and economic analysis to guide strategic entry into new sectors or municipalities.
- Participate in strategic planning with executive leadership to shape the firm's regional growth.
Public & Private Sector Engagement
- Establish and maintain relationships with public agency leaders, elected officials, private developers, architects, and consultants.
- Lead teaming and joint venture strategies, particularly for public sector projects.
- Engage in industry associations, attend public meetings, and monitor municipal agendas to stay informed about upcoming opportunities.
- Oversee proposal development and ensure compliance for public sector bids and prequalification efforts.
Client & Community Relations
- Act as a key representative of Kaufman Lynn Construction in the region, attending events, trade shows, and community functions to enhance visibility and foster relationships.
- Identify and promote employee participation on boards and in civic organizations aligned with the company's interests.
- Coordinate involvement in regional events such as groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, and sponsorships.
Internal & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Foster collaboration between Marketing, Preconstruction, Estimating, and Operations teams to ensure cohesive pursuit strategies.
- Develop and manage business development budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Support the Marketing team in messaging, branding, media relations, and award submissions to enhance the company's profile.
Systems & Reporting
- Ensure accurate and effective use of CRM data (Cosential) for actionable intelligence and reporting.
- Enhance internal reporting systems to track key performance indicators for business development success.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of construction business development experience, with a successful track record in both public and private sectors.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of Florida's public procurement processes and compliance requirements.
- Established network of contacts within public agencies and private development communities across the West Coast of Florida.
- Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in public speaking and relationship-building.
- Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Cosential), Microsoft Office Suite, and proposal development software.
