Yearly Salary: $97,933 - $126,735 (6-step salary schedule, salary placement dependent upon related experience)

Yearly Stipends: $1,000 for Masters / $1,500 Doctorate degrees

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Technology and/or Designee oversees the daily functions and performance of the desktop support team across the school district. This role ensures timely and effective support for technology systems used by staff and students. Responsibilities include management of the work order system, prioritization of technology support requests, oversight of device deployment, and enforcement of system access controls.

Coordinates the technical support team to setup and deliver technology support for staff development days and district-wide events.

Implements and maintains computer environment by defining and identifying network and systems problems and requirements; designing and developing system standards and solutions; installing approved upgrades; monitoring network performance. Protects and secures computer and network assets by establishing and enforcing system access controls for all users districtwide. Implements and enforces security protocols to protect district data, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

TYPICAL DUTIES (Responsibilities will include but are not be limited to):

The Supervisor is responsible for the following duties:

  • Supervise daily activities of the desktop technical support team.
  • Assists and monitors staff in making sure that user needs and problems are handled in a timely and efficient manner. Manage, monitor, and evaluate the district's technology work order system to ensure timely resolution, efficient assignment of tasks, and maintaining high levels of user satisfaction.
  • Prioritize support tickets based on urgency, instructional needs, and district priorities.
  • Coordinate, lead, and support the deployment and inventory tracking of Chromebooks, iPads, laptops, desktops, printers, and other approved IT assets.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership in designing and implementing standards for user hardware, including mobile phones.
  • Maintain user access control across district systems, ensuring proper account provisioning and deprovisioning in alignment with role-based access protocols.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of technical procedures and standards for device imaging, configuration, and security.
  • Provide technical support for AV setup and troubleshooting during staff development days, board meetings, and district-wide events.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for technology issues and coordination at the District Office.
  • Maintain asset and equipment tracking systems; ensure accuracy of device assignment and lifecycle status.
  • Work with vendors and service providers as needed to support district-wide technology initiatives and contracts.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to IT leadership regarding service trends, team performance, and operational metrics.
  • Train and mentor technical support staff and ensure continuous improvement through professional development and performance feedback.
  • Monitors device performance to ensure security and availability to specific and designated users
  • Evaluates and modifies all technology system's performance
  • Assists and ensures that system requirements are operational and upgraded
  • Assists and maintains the integrity of the networks, server deployment, and security of all assigned systems
  • Assists in ensuring network connectivity throughout the District's LAN/WAN infrastructures is operational with all established guidelines and protocols
  • Assigns configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services districtwide
  • Prepares all level users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support
  • Assists with the network upgrades by conferring with staff; vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements
  • Monitors all district user accounts, permissions and passwords
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure software and network compliance
  • Meets and maintains financial requirements by submitting information for budgets and assists with monitoring designated budgets
  • Ensures authorized access according to established protocols and procedures; investigating and reporting to Director of Technology any improper access; providing necessary documentation
  • Establishes and monitors computer security and access by developing standards, policies and procedures under the direction of the Director of Technology
  • Safeguards computer files by performing regular backups; developing procedures for source code management and disaster preparedness; recommending improvements
  • Provides security awareness for all users, which includes orientation, educational programs and on-going communication districtwide
  • Evaluates the performance of designated technical support staff
  • Attends meetings and trainings as required
  • Performs other related activities as required


KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Desktop and mobile device platforms, including Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, and Android
  • Google Workspace for Education administration

  • Proven experience in a tech support supervisor role
  • Verified hands on experience with networks, routing and switching systems
  • Knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of service infrastructure
  • Knowledge of firewalls, VPS's implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery software and methodologies
  • Knowledge of LAN, WAN, Network design and implementation
  • Experience supervising and evaluating staff
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with accuracy and efficiency
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively in English, orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain current in technology, hardware and software relevant to a school district environment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A./B.S. in Computer Science or Related Field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificate in Microsoft, Google, CISCO Programs and Systems, or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in IT support, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Valid California Driver's License with clean driving record
  • Must reside within 45-minutes of the GUSD Administration Office


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in a K-12 school district or educational setting
  • Network administration and data center operations within multi-platform server environment with diverse application development and implementation of related infrastructure
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
