The Opportunity
The Director of Academic upholds the bar of rigor in their content area. This person leads the design, monitoring, and refinement of scope and sequences, assessments, and instructional materials to ensure alignment with grade-level rigor. They manage the assessment lifecycle-including creation, revision, protocols, and integrity-while using data analysis to inform responsive instructional planning in collaboration with key stakeholders. The Director also develops and facilitates a yearlong professional development vision in collaboration with their manager aligned to network priorities. Instructional expertise, an unwavering belief in student ability, and collaborative leadership are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
1. Resource Management
- Develop and maintain normed, network-wide scope and sequences for all assigned content areas.
- Create and revise internal assessments to ensure alignment with grade-level rigor, network assessment strategy, and scope & sequence.
- Oversee curriculum materials management across campuses by supporting effective use, coordinating annual spring inventories, and partnering with vendors to order materials as needed.
2. Assessment Management
- Develop or revise assessments to ensure alignment with grade-level standards and rigor.
- Design and communicate clear assessment protocols to support consistent implementation across campuses.
- Monitor the fidelity of assessment administration and the integrity of assessment outcomes.
- Track and support timely, accurate data entry and ensure high levels of student participation.
3. Data Analysis and Response
- Analyze student data to interpret outcomes and identify trends, collaborating with key stakeholders to create targeted instructional plans in response.
- Partner with the Director of Data and Assessment to ensure a cohesive approach to data analysis, strategy development, and progress monitoring across the network.
4. Professional Development
- In collaboration with the Academic Team, develop a year-long vision for professional development in your content area.
- Plan and facilitate high-quality professional development sessions, and partner with external vendors as needed to support teacher growth and capacity building.
5. On Campus Development
- Conduct campus walkthroughs to monitor curriculum implementation and follow up on professional development outcomes.
- Provide targeted support to ensure the use of rigorous teaching practices through leading lesson internalization meetings, modeling instruction, and responding to data.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep knowledge of 6-12 Math content and pedagogy, with an emphasis on the Standards of Mathematical Practice.
- Experience implementing and/or supporting implementation of High Quality Instructional Materials for math curriculum (i.e. Eureka Squared, Amplify - Demos, Illustrative, Open Up High School Math).
- Knowledge of the common core shifts in math and how to ensure alignment to these shifts in curriculum implementation.
- Expertise with new, digital P/SAT Math Sections.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in education, including teaching, instructional coaching, or leadership roles.
- Proven track record of driving academic excellence and closing opportunity gaps for historically marginalized student groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a charter school or multi-site educational organization.
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
- Experience teaching an Advanced Placement Math course (i.e., AP Calculus, AP Stats).
- Experience developing a vertically aligned math vision.
- Experience co-teaching or leading co-teachers.
- Experience with new curriculum implementation.
- Track record of results in a high-stakes testing course (6-8 math, P/SAT, Advanced Placement tests, or similar normed assessment).
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: Full-time position with a salary range of $85,000 to $120,000, based on experience and qualifications.
- Benefits: Includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision), disability insurance, life insurance, PERA retirement, and paid time off.
