Pay Range: $165,000 - $200,000 per year
- Valkyrie Enterprises has a need for a Engineering Manager to lead cross-functional engineering team in support of manufacturing, testing, and IRAD initiatives, with a strong emphasis on government and defense contracts.
- This on-site role in Fredericksburg, VA requires a technical leader with a solid background in systems integration, production engineering, and compliance within a regulated engineering environment.
- The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of delivering complex programs on time and within budget, while fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Job Description:
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting production, test, and IRAD efforts.
- Oversee the development and implementation of integration lab, test strategies, plans, and procedures for government and commercial products.
- Interface with Program Management, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure products meet technical, schedule, and cost targets.
- Provide technical leadership on government contract deliverables (e.g. ECP, CDRL) ensuring compliance with DOD and other regulatory requirements (e.g., DFARS, ISO9001, CUI, CMMC).
- Drive IRAD initiatives from concept through demonstration, aligning with strategic goals and customer needs.
- Manage engineering support for low-rate production, including design-for-manufacturing and continuous process improvement.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and government stakeholders to address technical issues and clarify requirements.
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation (e.g., SRD, ICD, SRS) design reviews, and status reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support proposal development, including writing technical volumes and estimating engineering labor and costs.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff to build a high-performance, collaborative team environment not only in the operations unit but throughout the enterprise.
Qualifications:
- Must have a B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering and 8+ years of engineering experience in defense/aerospace or highly regulated industry, with at least 3 years in management or team lead role.
- Must have a deep understanding of manufacturing and test processes, including environmental and functional testing of electronic or electro-mechanical systems.
- Must have demonstrated success managing IRAD and/or technology maturation programs.
- Must have strong working knowledge of government contracting requirements, including FAR/DFARS compliance.
- Must have excellent leadership, program/project management (MS Project Planning), and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Masters Degree, preferred.
- Security Clearance, preferred.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), risk/cost/schedule management, and technical proposal development, preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, or similar process improvement methodologies, preferred.
- Hands-on experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and Costpoint ERP systems, preferred.
Security Requirements:
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal Travel; 25% or less.
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
