Process Design Engineer
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Process Design Engineer to join our on-site engineering team. This role will take full ownership of process engineering activities at the plant, supporting operational reliability, process safety, and project execution. Key Responsibilities
Drive the complete scope definition of capital and improvement projects in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Lead or contribute to incident investigations and take ownership of process-related findings and corrective actions.
Support Management of Change (MOC) processes and documentation.
Evaluate site conditions, perform root cause analysis, and propose innovative troubleshooting solutions.
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Manage and lead small capital projects (<$2M) from scope development through commissioning and startup, including layout planning, equipment procurement, and construction support.
Education & Experience
Required:
Proficient in creating Heat & Material Balances
Experienced with process simulation tools such as:
Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ProVision, or ChemCAD
Familiar with key unit operations and systems:
Distillation columns, reboilers, condensers
Tank farm design, loading/offloading systems
Process control fundamentals
Proficient in MS Office Suite, Visio, Bluebeam, and process simulation software

Key Responsibilities
- Lead process engineering support for a wide range of plant activities including troubleshooting, process improvements, capital projects, and safety-related initiatives.
- Develop Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) packages for assigned projects, including:
- Equipment adequacy assessments
- P&ID development
- Safety valve contingency analysis and sizing
- Equipment specifications and datasheets
- Hydraulic evaluations
- Control valve sizing
- Vendor coordination and alternative evaluation
Education & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of process engineering experience within an EPC firm or petrochemical operating company
- Strong foundation in core process engineering calculations:
- Line and pump sizing
- Pressure vessel and heat exchanger evaluations
- PSV and control valve sizing
