Position Summary:

The Director of Network Architecture and Engineering will lead the global IT organization's network architecture and engineering team. This role requires an individual with a strategic mindset and advanced technical expertise to oversee the design, support the implementation, and ensure network operations can effectively manage the enterprise voice and data network infrastructure. The candidate will ensure the alignment of network strategies with business goals, driving innovation, and optimizing performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set a strategic vision & roadmap for the BMS enterprise data and voice network. All solutions must balance security, cost, operational stability and business value for investments
  • Incorporate often ambiguous or incomplete requirements by collaborating with other IT stakeholders to ensure that both voice and data networks can support BMS' mission for it's patients both today and scale to meet future demands.
  • Immerse in deeply understanding the network industry trends, exploring and adopting those that will provide BMS with a world class network experience.
  • Time the adoption of new technologies balancing the risk of adoption with value to the business
  • Articulate clearly and align management, key IT stakeholders, design and delivery partners on Network Vision and technical voice and data solutions.
  • Perseverance, creativity and resilience to drive architectural solutions through many different obstacles that will occur from design inception to a stable operational state.
  • Deliver network performance and simulation toolsets that will help both validate designs after implementation as well as be used by operational teams to troubleshoot more difficult issues.
  • Analyze and drive key network and voice solutions delivered by various network partners. Where necessary, help influence their roadmaps to best meet BMS needs through a healthy and honest partnership
  • Lead a talented, skilled and passionate team of voice and data architects that will work as a team in both contributing to the network strategy and producing well documented, technically detailed conceptual designs that delivery and operation teams can execute against.
  • Ensure architectural teams are validating designs post implementation to evaluate their effectiveness on delivering against original design goals and outcomes.
  • Balance the workloads and priorities of voice and data architects to meet evolving business priorities.
  • Collaborate with architects to develop a well-rounded balance of technical interests, soft skills, and leadership skills in line with network vision and business needs
  • Foster a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement with the team. Lead by example.
  • Perform all HR related activities centered around performance reviews, development, proper coverage, compensation planning and reward.


Qualifications & Experience:
  • Advanced knowledge applicable to a wide range of work in data and voice network architecture and engineering, typically gained through a university degree and 10-12+ years of experience.
  • Must have and be able to demonstrate a successful, proven track record of leadership in network architecture and engineering, with experience managing teams and complex projects.
  • Deep understanding of network design principles, protocols, and technologies, including cloud networking. Must have knowledge of BGP routing, switching, wireless, QOS, SD-WAN, Modern Data Center, Manufacturing IT/OT networking, Firewall, Proxy, Cloud Proxy, VPN, DNS, Voice, Network Fabric, Network Virtualization, Network Performance, Network Simulation, Network automation and Micro segmentation solutions. Should have a solid understanding of cloud networking
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to think strategically and execute effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to package information and data that tells a story and provides insight to a broader problem.
  • Should have hands on skills to configure and operate an extensive lab environment needed for experimenting with network solutions to rough out design solutions.
  • Experience with cloud networking and zero trust network access (ZTNA), Python, Ansible is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions and build trusting relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in voice and data network architecture and engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with the impact of network strategies on people, technology, structure, and workflow across teams.
  • Prefer candidates with high-level respected certification such as CCIE or CCDE

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility.
