Position Overview:
At Sutter Health, you'll help shape communication strategies for patient health management and engagement. Your job will be to write compelling copy and produce and edit empathetic content for different channels, particularly videos. You'll also be creating content for print, presentations, and online platforms.
While working closely with subject matter experts of all kinds, you'll use your excellent storytelling skills to create engaging content that connects with a wide range of audiences. You'll turn clinical information into easy-to-understand learning modules. You'll stay on top of best practices and consumer feedback, to research, write, edit and roll out compelling content designs that attract, educate, and motivate audiences for Sutter's exciting health initiatives - including digital experiences that help manage every day and chronic health conditions.

Pay Range is $50.93 to $76.39 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.

Job Description:
EDUCATION:

- Bachelor's in Communications, English, Journalism Public Relations (PR) or related field.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years recent relevant experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience creating patient-facing content for healthcare or digital health platforms, with a focus on clarity, empathy, and engagement
- Background in communications, journalism, or a related field, with strong skills in storytelling, tone of voice, and content strategy across multiple channels.
- Deep knowledge of health literacy and equity principles to support informed patient decision-making
- Ability to write plain-language content that maintains a human-centered voice that is empathetic and compliant with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Familiarity with multimedia storytelling-including scripting and video production-with a focus on accessibility and patient engagement.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Exceptional writing, research, and comprehension skills, with the ability to formulate complex technical, regulatory and contractual information into understandable communications that advance the corporate, marketing, and branding goals for Sutter Health.
- Analytical, negotiation and project management skills, including the ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated understanding of regional, state and national health care and medicine issues, Northern California current events, and cultural and health care trends.
- Versatility and experience in a variety writing styles such as marketing, technical, executive, and employee communications.
- Expert communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interpret communication plans and strategies, and then translate them into messages that influence, inform and engage targeted audiences.
- Working knowledge of selecting/hiring third-party talent for creative services, graphic design and production, publication development and management, market research, and video production.
- Robust computer skills, including proficiency with applications like Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Captivate), Quark, or other related software.
- Translate complex technical, regulatory and contractual information into understandable communications.
- Communicate and interact with all levels of the organization, including senior management, compliance/legal, and technical experts throughout the organization to provide recommendations and influence project direction and decisions.
- Work independently, as well as be part of the team, with organizational, interpersonal, negotiation, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Manage, prioritize and drive multiple complex projects in an ever-changing environment to deliver quality products and services on-time and on-budget.
- Build collaborative work relationships with staff at all levels of the organization, diverse audiences and organizations.
