Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a Flight Software Architect to contribute to building and implementing the flight software architecture for the StarLab program. The StarLab will be a low Earth orbit (LEO) space station that will serve as a business park for commercial space and space tourism activities! This work will be performed in Houston, Texas.

Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a Flight Software Architect to contribute to building and implementing the flight software architecture for the StarLab program. The StarLab will be a low Earth orbit (LEO) space station that will serve as a business park for commercial space and space tourism activities! This work will be performed in Houston, Texas.
Key Duties:
- Lead the architecture, requirements, design, prototyping, and implementation of flight software for the StarLab space station.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for flight software development.
- Support activities related to flight software certification.
- Lead and contribute to programmatic reviews of flight software.
- Present technical flight software topics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Apply systems engineering principles to ensure the software architecture meets stakeholder needs.
- Implement appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development lifecycle.
- Perform hands-on software engineering tasks such as code reviews, requirements gathering, design documentation, implementation, anomaly resolution, and certification artifact preparation.
- Support the integration, verification, and validation of flight software in the system integration lab (SIL).
- Contribute to resource planning and the development of software schedules and related metrics.
- Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and assess impacts to schedules and budgets.
Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 10 or more years of experience developing and architecting software in a human-rated, regulated domain.
- 10 or more years of experience leading and coordinating with distributed teams..
- 20 or more years of experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Ability to integrate across a wide range of technical disciplines.
- Ability to work on complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative.
- Bachelor's degree.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Experience with manned-space system software and certification.
- Experience with NASA cFS (Core Flight System) framework.
- Experience with VxWorks 6.9 and embedded Linux.
- Experience with hardware/software interfaces.
- Experience debugging hardware/software interfaces with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
