Director of Finance, Operations, and Analytics - Graduate School
Salary range: $130,000 - $150,000
Position Summary:
The Graduate School at Bank Street College of Education is currently seeking a Director of Operations, Budget and Analytics to supervise, plan, and execute financial, operational and strategic projects related to budgeting, contract and grant management, operational management, and human resources.
This role liaises between the Graduate School and other divisions and Senior Leadership within Bank Street College to facilitate seamless, cross-functional workflows that enable the work within the Graduate School and across the College.
Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Graduate School's leadership team and the College's Strategy & Operations team, the Director of Operations, Budget, and Analytics will be responsible for ensuring that all operational aspects of the Graduate School are functioning at a high level in alignment with College-wide practices. This role reports to the Dean of the Graduate School and will supervise two Budget and Operations team members.

Strategy & Management
- Forecast and provide analysis and commentary on the financial impact of operational and strategic initiatives
- Create and develop financial models to evaluate ongoing program profitability and effectiveness and to support short- and long-term decision-making
- Supervise and invest in the professional growth of budget staff that provides managerial and administrative support for Graduate School fiscal affairs
- In collaboration with the Business Office and relevant team members, oversee and generate financial reporting for grants, contracts, scholarship, and endowment funds
- Provide thought leadership with key team members across the Graduate School and Strategy & Operations around effective approaches and systems to ensure financial sustainability across Graduate School programming, including the forecasting and analysis of implications of programmatic changes
- Serve on various leadership committees within the Graduate School, current examples include Dean's Council, Enrollment Task Force, Refund Policy Committee, and Commencement Committee
- Support the development of reports and/or presentations for a range of constituents in a range of formats for board members, Office of Communications, the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, and other key stakeholders
Budget & Analytics
- Develop and monitor the annual budgets across the Graduate School. This includes the projection and monitoring of tuition, scholarships/discounts, and grants & contracts.
- Evaluate internal procedures and systems at the Graduate School with an eye to increase efficiency while utilizing College-wide tools and technology that already exist
- Work collaboratively with department chairs, program directors, and the Associate Deans to use the program plan data to strategically forecast student enrollments and inform program decisions
- Partner with divisional and College leadership (Development, Chairs, Project Directors, and senior leadership team) in development of contract/grant proposals
General/Operations
- Understand the programmatic and cultural strengths, values, traditions, and opportunities of Bank Street in order to support smooth operational functioning
- Partner and liaise with Strategy & Operations to support the Graduate School staff in understanding the organizational policies, processes, and structures of the institution and collaborate with the teams to adapt and/or develop policies or processes needed
- Collaborate with Human Resources to support hiring, onboarding and reemployment processes as well as ongoing HR workflows such as:
- Supporting Graduate School leadership in establishing annual workload composition for faculty members
- Supervising generation of staff contracts by term and provide on-going expense analysis and feedback of divisional course coverage
- Ensuring the accuracy of payroll production based on contractual workloads in partnership with the Business Office
- Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications:
Skills & Knowledge
- Master's degree in Business Administration or Finance, or related field.
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team and with personnel at all levels of the organization
- Ability to design and manage complex team and divisional budgets
- Ability to navigate grant and contract funding requirements, both budgeting and compliance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both virtual and in-person settings
- Ability to translate financial data and analysis and communicate complex information to a variety of audiences, including non-experts
- Problem resolution and organizational skills including ability to manage multiple projects, navigate ambiguity, and set priorities for oneself and the team in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; familiarity with quantitative and qualitative analytic strategies and programs
- Demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of an organizational change strategy; ability to design systems or processes to solve a problem
- Advanced skills using Google suite and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, specifically, advanced formulas, pivot tables and charts
- Experience using data visualization tools to communicate insights effectively.
Experience
- At least five years of professional experience supporting operations and/or project management work in a higher education (preferred) or education non-profit organization
- Experience planning and managing complex projects towards results
- Experience in organizations funded through grants and contracts
