Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of this position are business development activities and assist in credit underwriting. Additional responsibilities of loan administration and portfolio management for the Bell Capital Finance division will take place upon successful deal origination.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Managing Directors to:
    • Develop and support key strategic relationships with reputable private equity, family offices, mezzanine lenders, and transactional support contacts.
    • Define, promote, build and maintain a clear and consistent brand for Bell Capital Finance from a recruiting, marketing, business development and credit perspective.
    • Analyze financial statements for existing and potential new customers (and/or supervise one or more financial analysts doing the same).
    • Provide recommendation as to the feasibility of the credit request.
    • Assist with the preparation of loan committee presentations, annual credit reviews and problem loan summaries (and/or supervise one or more financial analysts doing the same).
    • Analyze interim financial statements of existing clients (and/or supervise one or more financial analysts doing the same).
    • Interview prospective customers.
    • Assist in the administration of the Bell Capital Finance lending guidelines.
    • Mentor financial analyst(s) and other Bell Capital Finance staff.
    • Assist in the recruiting and hiring process for financial analyst and future Bell Capital Finance staff.
    • Consider and address regulatory issues implicated by this specialty lending area.
    • Develop a plan for leveraging this division's personnel and competencies for the benefit of other areas of the bank (e.g., traditional commercial lending, wealth management, etc.).
    • Consider ways the bank's standard protocols may need to be customized to address the unique risks associated with this division.
    • Develop expectations and service standards for the interactions between sales and credit.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations
  • 3-5 years' experience specifically in leveraged lending/sponsor finance.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of loan documentation.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Above-average written and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer technology.
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
