Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Career Development, as the Associate Director of Career Development you will provide leadership for an innovative career development office that strives to remain on the cutting edge of student and career development. You will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight within the Career Development Office (CDO) at UMSI, with a focus on advancing student career education and experience through both curricular and co-curricular initiatives. You will manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of career-related programs, integration of career education into the curriculum, and strategic management of the internship program. You will lead a team of career education professionals, champion inclusive and data-driven practices, and ensure alignment of career services with the school's academic mission.

Responsibilities*
CDO Strategic Leadership, Operations & Initiatives:
Contribute to the success of the CDO by being a member of strategic planning, data collection, data management, marketing and communications activities, operational and program management, unit-level assessment activities, temp staffing management, and other operational activities.
Strategic Leadership of Student Experience:
Provide strategic leadership of the daily operations of the student experience team. Ensure that CDO programs and activities are inclusive, and equitable and meet the needs of a diverse student population, and contribute to a work environment that is welcoming for all students, residential and online.
You will oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive, inclusive career education programs that enhance student career development. Set and drive the strategic goals for career coaching services, and all curricular and co-curricular career education programs. By encouraging collaboration across departments, you will ensure that career education experiences are holistic and accessible to all students. Assess student career education programs and services for effectiveness using quantitative and qualitative research methods; use assessment data to inform future changes and decisions for continuous improvement.
Be active and engaged with leading career education professional associations such as NACE, NCDA, HireBig10+ Career Consortium, or the Career Leadership Collective to stay informed and up to date on innovative and evidence-based career education practices, integrating new strategies and technologies that enhance the effectiveness, accessibility, and inclusivity of career education for UMSI students.
Internship Program Strategic Lead
Provide strategic direction, oversight and management of the UMSI Internship Program across three degree programs. Be a primary contact for employers when students are taking part in the UMSI Internship Program. Develop and analyze metrics to assess student learning and satisfaction, and employer satisfaction. Lead creation of annual internship report and provide visibility of internship outcomes to prospective/current students, faculty, staff, and employer partners.
Supervision
Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship for the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Career Education and the Assistant Director of Graduate Career Education. Provide functional supervision to two Career Coordinators.

Work Locations
Will require travel to multiple locations on & off campus. Will occasionally require domestic travel, and potentially international travel.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .
This would be a hybrid schedule, with the expectation of 2-3 days in the office or more, depending on events and activities during peak times of the year. Punctual and regular attendance is required. May require working during non-business hours and on weekends.

This role will also include a 5% overload LEO Lecturer appointment. As a Lecturer at UMSI, you will help, provide instructional support for curricular-based internship courses, and co-instruct curricular-based career education courses. At UMSI, we demonstrate respect for students as individuals and foster a respectful atmosphere in the online learning environment. You will also work collaboratively with lead instructors, other instructional team members, and UMSI staff (who help with administration and student advising/life functions) to ensure that students receive an excellent education and are aware of support services in the larger UM and UMSI communities. This lecturer position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

- Co-Curricular Career Education:
Career Coaching Team Lead: Serve as the lead career advisor at UMSI, leading strategic direction of individualized professional career advising and coaching provided to all students. Develop methods for advising and coaching and oversee the staff responsible for delivering these services. - Curricular Career Education:
Instructional Team Lead: Design and implement instruction for internship and career courses. Develop instructional plans to meet course goals while creating an inclusive learning environment. Use a learning management system (Canvas) and in-person instruction to meet course objectives and assessments.

Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree and/or 3 or more years of experience in advising, counseling, and/or coordinating programs in a university/college setting
- Evidence of a high degree of initiative, creative thinking, and problem-solving
- Proven skills in developing, delivering, and evaluating presentations and programs
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex programs
- Proven ability to incorporate data, equity, and curricular/career education strategies
- Experience managing both high-level initiatives and detailed processes
