About the role:
Our Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division is seeking an Engineer for our Mossville, Illinois facility. This role creates, implements and improves engineering designs, processes, techniques, tooling and machinery to meet customer requirements and maximize product quality. This role will work to develop and implement remanufacturing processes and plans for electrical and electronics components utilized on Caterpillar machines and engines. The Reman Electronics team supports a wide range of products including electronic controls, displays, starters, alternators, power inverters, high and low voltage motors, and generators.

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.

About the role:
Our Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division is seeking an Engineer for our Mossville, Illinois facility. This role creates, implements and improves engineering designs, processes, techniques, tooling and machinery to meet customer requirements and maximize product quality. This role will work to develop and implement remanufacturing processes and plans for electrical and electronics components utilized on Caterpillar machines and engines. Job responsibilities will Include but are not limited to:
- Detailed engineering analysis to determine remanufacturing feasibility for electrical and electronic components utilized on Caterpillar products
- Collaboration with cross-functional (marketing, purchasing, manufacturing) to provide remanufactured solutions that meet cost and quality requirements
- Developing component design and process improvements supporting the remanufacture of electrical and electronic components
- Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes into our Reman facilities or partners to achieve increased salvage levels, cost reduction and quality improvement
Skill Descriptors:
- Analytical Thinking: Working Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Effective Communications: Working Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Technical Excellence: Working Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- Team Management: Basic Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Working Knowledge of design for manufacturability guidelines, methodologies, and use cases; ability to use this knowledge to optimize product designs and manufacturing operations
- Engineering - MFG: Working Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
- Product Testing: Working Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
- Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Working Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Top Candidates Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical or Electronics), Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
- Experience in designing, developing or validating electrical or electronics systems.
- Hands-on experience with electronically controlled mechanical systems.
- Experience developing validation and/or manufacturing end-of-line test plans.
- Development or validation experience with large electric motors or generators.
- Fundamental understanding of mobile machine operation, ideally construction equipment and operations.
- Experience with FMEA processes and a basic knowledge of electronic system failure modes.

- The primary location for this role is Mossville, Illinois.
- 10% will be required for this position.
