The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Job Description
We are seeking an entry-level Software Engineer I specializing in backend development to join our team at NextGear Capital. In this role, you will work on building and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend systems that support our floorplan financing solutions for independent dealers. You will leverage your skills in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development to deliver robust and reliable software solutions.

Job Description
We are seeking an entry-level Software Engineer I specializing in backend development to join our team at NextGear Capital. In this role, you will work on building and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend systems that support our floorplan financing solutions for independent dealers. You will leverage your skills in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development to deliver robust and reliable software solutions.
What you'll do
- Support our mobile application by developing and maintaining the API components required for seamless integration.
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Collaborate with an agile development team to design, implement, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Work on integrating observability tools to monitor and improve system performance.
- Contribute to test automation efforts to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and adhere to best practices for software development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as 4 years' experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of software development best practices, including code reviews and agile methodologies.
- Understanding basic concepts of Java programming and familiarity with Spring Boot framework.
- Understanding of RESTful API design and development.
- Familiarity with test automation tools and techniques.
- Basic understanding of observability concepts (e.g., logging, monitoring, and tracing).
- Knowledge of GitHub or similar version control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Knowledge of database technologies like MSSQL.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices and tooling like Github Actions.
