Job Summary
CVICU Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated nurse practitioner or physician's assistant to join our cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) team. The APP will provide advanced care and support to critically ill patients recovering from cardiac surgery including management of mechanical circulatory support and heart/lung transplants. This a role that will allow you to practice to the fullest extent of your scope and capabilities.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive assessments and physical exams of patients with cardiovascular conditions after cardiovascular surgery.
Manage and coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team in the care-planning and management of post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients.
Familiarity with and management of vasoactive infusions including titration of vasopressors and management of cardiogenic shock with inotropic infusions.
Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests.
Provide critical care support including management of mechanical ventilation and mechanical circulatory support (MCS).
Responsible for bedside procedures including arterial line placement, central line placement, pigtail thoracostomy tube placement, and intubation.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
