Job Description

The Director of Maintenance leads the maintenance department of Kenn Borek Air and is responsible for aircraft fleet management and all maintenance-related regulatory compliance. Accordingly, the position holds the Transport Canada "Person Responsible for Maintenance" position. The Director of Maintenance assists with the ongoing development of business opportunities for the AMO and related activities.

Major Responsibilities of the Role:
  • Provide strong business support and assistance to the President and the management team of the Company. As a key member of the senior leadership group, the Director of Maintenance must be a passionate advocate for the business and help keep the organization focused on executing key priorities.
  • Through targeted mentorship, make the maintenance division of the Company a preferred employer for maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure that all activities under the direction of the Director of Maintenance provide a positive contribution to the Company's profitability and growth.
  • Work with the President and senior leadership group on the strategic vision of the maintenance department and the Company.
  • In collaboration with the senior leadership and maintenance management teams, develop strategies, plans, and key performance indicators for the maintenance department and its employees, while providing ongoing guidance and regular performance reviews to department managers.
  • Develop and execute staff development, succession, and growth plans, fostering a culture of continuous learning and leadership within the team.
  • Lead and/or participate in developing new business, driving innovation, and ensuring efficient operations.
  • Be a strong advocate for excellent customer service - both internal and external - particularly in meeting aircraft serviceability targets and cost control.
  • Actively manage statutory compliance and continuous improvement in safety and quality, ensuring that the team upholds the highest standards.
  • Work closely with the President and senior leadership in aircraft fleet planning and allocation and assist in the identification and negotiation of aircraft purchases and sales.
  • Ensure that the aircraft fleet is maintained in conformance with OEM and regulatory requirements and the most efficient industry practices.
  • Evaluation and recommendation of aircraft, equipment and component replacement and additions.
  • Assist in development of related business areas including the AMO, parts and component manufacturing and sales, and purchase and sale projects.


Qualifications
  • Must be a capable business leader with extensive and proven experience.
  • Must attain (or within 6 months become) the qualification of "Person Responsible for Maintenance" for Kenn Borek Air as contemplated under the Canadian Aviation Regulations.
  • Must be of high integrity and always act in the best interests of the Company.
  • Must be comfortable working as part of a collaborative high performance senior leadership team.
  • Must be able to dedicate themselves to their position and not be involved in outside business activities.
