Job Description
The Associate Dean of Student oversees and provides leadership for the Office of Student Conduct and Office of Student Outreach and Support. The incumbent serves as the Chief Student Conduct Officer and Chief Student Support Officer for the University. The Associate Dean oversees the development and administration of the University-wide student conduct, honor code, and student outreach and support systems. The incumbent serves as the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs representative for the University's compliance committee and collaborates with academic and administrative departments related to student concerns. The Associate Dean manages a resolution process for inquiries and concerns submitted by students, faculty, staff, parents, and members of the community and serves on-call for the Office of the Dean of Students. The Associate Dean reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. The incumbent supervises professional, administrative, graduate, and student staff.
Responsibilities
Student Conduct Oversight and Administration
Oversees and supervises staff within the Office of Student Conduct and Office of Student Outreach & Support. Oversees and administers the student conduct, honor code, and students outreach and support systems. Develops policies and procedures for the Office of Student Conduct, Office of Student Outreach & Support, Office of the Dean of Students, and Division of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs. Organizes campus-wide education related to citizenship, ethics, decision making, resiliency, and institution policy.
Investigative Responsibilities
Investigates alleged misconduct, utilizing learned methods and techniques to draw informed conclusions, while applying the appropriate evidentiary standard. Coordinates investigations with appropriate University and community agencies. Prepares written report of investigation findings, which include all pertinent facts, information, and evidence.
Analyzes and evaluates alleged misconduct to make recommendations on the appropriate investigation, adjudication, or closing procedures. Oversees the prompt, thorough, and unbiased investigation process for all alleged misconduct; assigns investigators and ensures their utilization of the most up-to-date investigatory procedures and techniques. Serves as a University Hearing Officer for any alleged violations of University policy, evaluating complex information in order to render a decision utilizing the incumbent's training, professional judgment, University policy, and federal and/or state law.
Student Outreach, Support, and Community Relations
Oversees outreach and partnership efforts with University and community partners related to all student concerns. Manages resolution process for inquiries and concerns submitted by students, faculty, staff, parents, and members of the community. Coordinates the Student Complaint Process for the University. Responds to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, parents, and members of the community, as well as assist with managing community members of concern.
Training, Prevention, and Response Initiatives
Leads and coordinates educational initiatives centered around the Student Code of Conduct, Honor Code, and other institutional policies, ensuring awareness and compliance among students, faculty, and staff. Designs and delivers comprehensive training programs for faculty, staff, and students focused on verbal de-escalation techniques, crisis prevention strategies, and effective crisis response protocols.
Committee Leadership and Involvement
Serves as the chairperson for the University-wide Case Assessment, Review, and Evaluation (CARE) Team for behavioral intervention and threat assessment. Provides vision and oversight to the Student of Concern (SOC) team, Scrappy's Cupboard, Student Emergency Fund, and other initiatives. Serves on the Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, and Stalking (SHSADDVS) Responses Team and SHSADDVS Prevention & Education Committee. Manages student safety, crisis management, and student emergency programs for the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs. Serves on-call for the Office of the Dean of Students. Serves on Department, Division, and University program initiatives and committees.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree, three years of supervisory experience, and five years of relevant experience in a college or university conduct process, investigations, case management, crisis response, student safety, organizational supervision, conflict mediation, or community relations.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree, five years of supervisory experience of professional staff, and more than five years of relevant experience in a college or university conduct process, investigations, case management, crisis response, student safety, organizational supervision, conflict mediation, and community relations.

- Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including Title IX, due process protections as they apply to student conduct proceedings, the Clery Act, VAWA and FERPA.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals who may be in distress and/or handling difficult interactions.
- Ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, parents, administrators) with diplomacy and tact.
- Knowledge, experience, and training in handling issues related to gender-based violence.
- Superior leadership and management skills, including interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Excellent presentation and training skills.
