Position Summary:
The Controller will support the CFO in overseeing all accounting operations and ensuring the integrity of financial data across the organization. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day functions of the accounting department, driving process improvements, and delivering strategic financial analysis that supports corporate initiatives and decision-making.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum 7 years of accounting and financial reporting experience in a manufacturing environment
- At least 4 years of supervisory experience in an accounting leadership role
- Strong background in month-end and year-end closing, financial statement preparation, and audit coordination
- Solid understanding of cost accounting, financial reporting, and manufacturing systems
- Proven ability to evaluate and streamline accounting processes for efficiency and accuracy
Core Responsibilities:
Accounting Oversight & Reporting:
- Supervise the daily operations of the accounting team including G/L, A/P, A/R, credit and collections, payroll, invoicing, and sales tax compliance
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with the corporate closing calendar
- Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements using account reconciliations and trend analysis
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies
Process Improvement & Analysis:
- Monitor departmental workflows and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Review costing exception reports daily and resolve discrepancies between inventory receipts and A/P inputs
- Analyze and explain key variances in labor, productivity, and inventory balances
- Provide data-driven insights to support CFO reporting needs
Cash Management & Payroll:
- Oversee daily cash management activities and forecasting
- Process confidential payroll transactions and ensure accurate reporting
- Administer 401(k) transactions via Fidelity and support annual Form 5500 preparation and audit
