In September, Sonoco announced it is performing a strategic review of the Thermoforming Flexible Packaging (TFP) business unit. In order to support a newly formed global packaging company with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion, we are seeking a Financial Analyst for our Edinburgh, IN Facility

While reporting directly to the Vice President, Finance - Thermoformed & Flexible Packaging as the Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for the annual planning, forecasting, financial reporting, and various types of financial analysis. Additional responsibilities include long-range strategic planning, special project assignments, and financial process improvements.

What You'll Be Doing:

Financial Analysis
  • Developing financial models for various ad-hoc analysis (IRR, NPV, and payback calculations).
  • Calculating and explaining variance analysis both at a plant and business unit level.
  • Analyzing customer profitability, understanding mix, and preparing margin analysis reports.
  • Understanding key business drivers to facilitate the preparation of analytical analysis.
  • Monthly analysis of financial performance.
  • Coordinate quarterly obsolete inventory analysis and true-up of obsolete inventory reserve.


Monthly close responsibilities:
  • Close and financial support responsibility for assigned plants.
  • Trans4M monthly, quarterly, annual activities, and routine month end reporting.
  • Ad hoc plant reporting.
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain and publish plant and division reports.
  • Cost accountant responsibilities for the business unit:
  • Develop and maintain GAAP and theoretical capacity cost models.
  • Develop and facilitate periodic costing and quoting system updates.
  • Analyze monthly standard cost variances.
  • Work with the plants to ensure BOM/routing updates are made as needed.


Capital spending
  • Maintain the OneStream capital module.
  • Coordinate and facilitate periodic capital spend review meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of capital project spend requests including calculation of IRR's.
  • Serve as quality gatekeeper of the capital project approval system and, responsible for reviewing submitted capital projects, checking the accuracy of the justification calculations. and compliance with Corporate and Division capital policy.
  • Monthly capital spend reports.
  • Responsibility for the preparation and presentation of post completion audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.


This position is located in our Edinburgh, IN Facility

  • You can perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
  • You have a bachelor's degree in accounting and at least 6 years of experience.
  • You have experience with ERP systems - Oracle and/or Trans4M is a plus
  • You have a CPA and CMA certification is a plus, but not required

Compensation:
  • The annual base salary range for this role is from $80,320 to $90,360.
