We are seeking a Financial Analyst with strong financial analysis background to provide support for the Contribution Profit (CP) product owned by Profitability & Business Metric Services (PBMS), which is part of the Selling Partner Services (SPS) organization. SPS is responsible for several key elements of Amazon's flywheel which ensures low prices for our customers, provides a rich tool kit for our Selling Partners to work with Amazon, drives traffic and increased conversion through replenishment and promotion programs, and drives profitability and controllership insights to lower Amazon's cost structure. PBMS develops systems and mechanisms that deliver profitability metrics, insights and automated decision-making for the WW Stores businesses and flywheel; such as Historical Contribution Profit (HCP), Forward Looking Contribution Profit (FLCP), and Turismo.

CP data is used to drive informed decision-making at multiple levels. It provides item-level profitability metrics (P&Ls) for each item shipped and is used in both managerial reporting and automated systems across the WW Stores business. CP utilizes economic, financial, and business fundamentals that attributes hundreds of revenue and cost pools to millions of shipments each day, specific to that shipment's unique life cycle within Amazon.

You will be partnering with stakeholders across various finance, accounting, business, and technical teams in 23 marketplaces to audit, develop, and implement CP allocation methodologies that assign billions of dollars of revenue and cost to millions of shipments. As a finance partner, you will own building mechanisms to drive controllership, accuracy, insights and innovation in these products which directly ties to measurable, large scale improvements and insights for the business, finance, sellers and our customers. You will gain experience and help shape the fundamental aspects that drive the Amazon Retail and Seller businesses.

This role operates in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment. It requires the ability to influence the decisions of senior business leaders through effective verbal and written communication; including logical reasoning, clear data analyses, as well as the presentation of alternatives and trade-offs. The successful candidate must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically in an ambiguous environment with many stakeholders and opinions.

Key job responsibilities

- Develop and execute audit programs to identify missing or incorrectly allocated revenue/cost pools in Contribution Profit and provide detailed findings/root cause analyses to stakeholders

- Partner with a diverse set of global stakeholders to to improve or develop and propose new allocation methodologies for revenue and cost pools in Contribution Profit

- Provide validation and impact analysis support for program launches

- Develop and automate governance and financial controllership mechanisms to ensure accountability, data quality and accuracy through all aspects of the business workflow

- Dive deep into financial activity, build bridging and identify/develop benchmarks to properly measure allocation accuracy and conduct variance analyses

- Identify automation and tooling opportunities to drive efficiency and improvements in the audit and allocation processes

- Gather, reconcile and analyze very large datasets through SQL and other analytical tools (e.g. Excel, Quicksight)

- Identify, develop and communicate key metrics, achievements, and opportunities to help our business partners understand the needs of our customers and drive product enhancements

- Effectively manage multiple projects/workstreams and provide essential input on prioritization of enhancements, features, and projects

- Facilitate financial review meetings with cross-functional business, technical, and senior management

About the team

PBMS Finance is the primary finance partner for CP products (HCP and FLCP) and all customer facing analytical tools within Profit Intelligence (e.g. Phoenix, Cost to Serve Slicing, CP to P&L bridging) and Chronicle products (e.g. Turismo). These tools drive critical decisions such as pricing, selection and key business insights for Amazon and power Amazon's flywheel.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

- 4+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience

- 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

- 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

- 4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

- Six Sigma Black Belt

- Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence

- Experience as a lean sensei, or experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

- MBA, or CPA

- Knowledge of Tableau

- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
