As Risk Stewards, Regulatory Compliance (RC) Advisors provide advice, guidance, opinions, direction, and training related to the regulatory landscape to the First Line of Defence/business. They support the business in complying with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations, thereby delivering fair outcomes for customers and embedding a robust risk management culture in HSBC's business processes.
The remit may range from a small geographic area/country to global for a Function or Global Business Line.
A key risk management role that has a broad remit and responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:

As our Vice President Compliance Risk Steward Regulatory Reporting you will:
  • Foster a positive culture of compliance by working proactively with the Lines of Business and to ensure compliance with regulatory and HSBC policy requirements across the enterprise
  • Serve as regulatory coordinators and providing regulatory compliance support on Regulatory Reporting activities and projects - including but not limited to completeness and accuracy of regulatory filings for the broker dealer, FCM and Swap Dealer; assessment of internal controls designed to confirm timely and proper filings with regulatory entities
  • Serve as RC advisory point of accountability for all regulatory reporting filings under Regulatory Compliance ownership and/or stewardship while maintaining close communication with applicable GB/GF supporting these areas. The role will oversee embedding of RC risk stewardship enhancments in line with internal and external expectations and principles defined under the HSBC Integrity in Regulatory Report (IRR) program
  • Provide pro-active support and technical expertise to the regional risk stewards and GB/GFs for RC Regulatory Reporting risk and control application, for example, provide guidance on control ownership and applicability for RC reports. In general, the regulatory filings include the SEC 15c3-3 Reserve and Proprietary Account of Broker Computations, FOCUS reports, and the three CFTC Daily Customer Segregation Computations
  • Lead and engage IRR teams in the design and implementation of the Regulatory Reporting risk taxonomy and control library including the uplifting of controls per IRR standards
  • Assist in the coordination of compliance assurance reviews covering regulatory reporting responsibilities for Regulatory Compliance
  • Provide input to Group wide activities and actively support the delivery of key change requirements, for example,support the development of high-level Phase 2 Implementation Plans for IRR


For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $138,400 and $207,600. The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You'll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
  • Strong background in compliance in financial services, specific to the US Broker Dealer ("Broker-Dealer") and/or Futures Commission Merchant ("FCM")
  • Knowledge of Risk Management frameworks, with a focus on Non-Financial Risk Management, specifically related to Regulatory Reporting for the Broker Dealer and/or FCM
  • Knowledge of the SEC Customer Reserve Formula, Proprietary Account of Brokers Computations, FOCUS reports, and/or CFTC Segregation Computations, a plus
  • Knowledge of Broker-Dealer and FCM Management Program Advisory experience
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational skills, technical knowledge and the ability to demonstrate professional skepticism to manage timely deadline deliveries
  • Maintain excellent verbal / written communication and influencing skills
  • Consistently and eagerly work on enhancing and upgrading his/her skills leveraging internal and external sourcesWork well in a team environment, have strong work ethic, and maintain a positive attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent at minimum; graduate degree a plus
