Examples of Duties
The Tigard Public Library seeks an Acquisitions Supervisor for our Technical Services team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, knowledgeable library professional with excellent supervisory skills who loves being organized, is adept at navigating technology, and has strong written and verbal communication skills.
In this leadership role, the Acquisitions Supervisor will provide service to the community by ensuring timely access to library materials through procurement, accurate record-keeping, and data analysis. The Acquisitions Supervisor will be responsible for the direct supervision of two part-time staff members, and will serve as a member of the Library's Person in Charge team. This position is a two-year limited duration assignment.

Schedule: This position is 40 hours per week (1 FTE) Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm. Schedule may be adjusted periodically for trainings or for other operational needs.

- Procures library materials, including creating purchase orders, placing orders, processing invoices and updating databases with acquisition and vendor information.
- Develops and provides reports for manager and collection development staff review.
- Assists with the transfer and reconciliation of expenditure data between Integrated Library System and the City's financial software systems.
- Interacts with vendors to ensure timely and accurate procurement and delivery of library materials.
- Tracks and monitors expenditures of library materials.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates performance of assigned Technical Services staff members.
- Serves as a member of the Library's Person in Charge team.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of basic principles and procedures of fund accounting and public agency budgeting.
- Knowledge of purchasing principles, procedures, applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Ability to supervise, select, train, motivate, and evaluate the work of staff.
- Ability to prepare reports and analyze data.
- Knowledge of record keeping procedures and basic mathematical principles.
- Ability to use word-processing, spreadsheet, and Integrated Library System (ILS) software programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent in-person and over the phone customer service skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field; AND
- Two (2) years of experience in library support services; AND
- One (1) year of mentor, lead, or supervisory experience.
