Job Title: Pullet Production Manager

Compensation: $92K - 95K Annually DOE

Job Summary

The Pullet Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all pullet production operations at a designated site. This role ensures efficient, safe, and high-quality of our pullet production while maintaining compliance with animal welfare, biosecurity, and environmental standards, ensuring that all employees adhere to FDA, USDA, UEP guidelines and all other local authorities. The Pullet Production Manager will lead production teams, drive and optimize processes as well as operational improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional departments to optimize performance and production efficiency.

Essential Job Functions

  • Flock Management and Oversight * Manage all aspects of pullet sites, including bird growth, health, and overall operations. * Conduct daily site inspections, focusing on bird health, feed, light, air, water, cleanliness, and building maintenance. * Monitor and manage activities on all pullet sites daily, including regular check-ins with Flock Managers. * Maintain and adjust feed, lighting, and ventilation guidelines based on bird age and environmental conditions. * Manage mortality rates, feed intake, water intake, bird weights, uniformity, and related documentation. * Ensure timely completion of all required vaccinations and surveillance for each flock. * Assist with compliance sampling in flocks.
  • Team Leadership and Training * Train and mentor Flock Managers on best practices for optimal flock outcomes. * Provide guidance on managing systems (ventilation, water, feeding, AEI/PMSI barn operating systems). * Assist in training flock specialists and on-site maintenance personnel. * Manage maintenance personnel schedules and coordinate with Flock Managers. * Oversee and participate in safety training programs for all pullet employees.
  • Operational Management * Manage the pullet budget and related financial responsibilities. * Oversee supply chain management, including ordering from warehouse and external vendors. * Complete weekly feed ration forms and feed orders in collaboration with Flock Managers. * Manage pest and rodent treatment schedules across all flocks. * Ensure proper management of Manure Storage Buildings according to permit requirements. * Participate in bi-weekly barn compliance walks for all barns. * Coordinate with the Pullet Business Leader Unit on ongoing projects, flock scheduling, and site preparation.
  • Compliance and Documentation * Review and manage compliance items and related paperwork. * Ensure timely completion and submission of all required documentation. * Oversee bio-security and safety documentation.
  • Emergency Response and On-Call Duties * Monitor, respond to, and resolve environmental control system alarms, including overnight on-call responsibilities.
  • Administrative Duties * Complete payroll tasks for staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. * Participate in company leadership training programs. * Maintain open communication with the Pullet Business Leader Unit.
  • Special Projects and Events * Oversee critical activities such as chick placements, vaccinations, load-outs, and barn cleaning. * Assist with ongoing improvement projects and initiatives as directed by leadership.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of poultry husbandry, animal welfare regulations, and biosecurity protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and production management software.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience as a lead/supervisor or manager position.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work in various climate conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Agricultural or a related field
  • 5 or more years of experience as a lead/supervisor or manager position.
  • Previous poultry or in large-scale animal agriculture industry experience.
  • Previous experience in Live Haul operations * Feed Haul and Feed Mill management * Breeder and Broiler production * Hatchery operations.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or process improvement initiatives.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.


Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a farm/production setting, involving regular exposure to outdoor elements, livestock, and various types of production equipment. The role demands physical stamina, requiring extended periods of standing, walking on uneven surfaces, and frequent lifting. Comfort around animals and familiarity with agricultural machinery is essential. The work environment includes exposure to typical farm conditions such as dust, odors, and noise. Flexibility is crucial, as the position may require availability for on-call duties and emergency situations outside standard hours. Adherence to safety protocols and biosecurity measures is paramount. This dynamic setting requires adaptability, resilience, and the ability to work effectively in both independent and team-oriented situations.
