Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.

The primary purpose of the Mental Health Clinician II is to coordinate and provide comprehensive mental health care and related services to children and adolescents in schools. Assists in the development of treatment plants, including referral for appropriate level of mental health services. Demonstrates competency in assessing and treating children and adolescents (5-18 years).

- Assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned clients including coordination of treatment, scheduling of groups, and liaison with community agencies.
- Schedules and conducts psychosocial skills development groups for students and parents.
- Provides therapy appropriated for age group with empathy and concern for the client
- Conducts accurate assessment and involves client and/or family in developing achievable and understandable psychosocial treatment plans in accordance with accepted professional and University Behavioral Health Care standards.
- Involves students and/or family in developing achievable and understandable clinical treatment plans in accordance with accepted professional standards and University Behavioral Health Care standards.
- Assists students in effectively managing crisis.
- Collects and maintains appropriate client records as dictated by the program evaluations requirements.
- Completes report of initial evaluations and treatment plan for client's chart within prescribed time period as indicated by a regular review of records.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in a mental health discipline plus two (2) years post master's experience in the mental health field, or Doctorate Degree.
Certifications/Licenses
- Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
- Licensed in New Jersey to provide mental health services as an independent practitioner (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, psychology license).
- Valid driver's license.

- Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs and behavior of children (5 - 12 years) and adolescents (13 - 18 years).
