Description:

Who We Are

The Fulfillment Lifecycle Orchestration team is a core part of Wayfair's Supply Chain and Physical Retail Technology organization. We are building the intelligent orchestration and decisioning platforms that ensure every customer order-across e-commerce and in-store-moves smoothly and efficiently from click to delivery or pickup.

This team sits at the heart of how Wayfair fulfills millions of orders across a growing network of warehouses, last-mile facilities, stores, and carrier partners. Our platforms coordinate the full order journey-from allocation and routing, to picking and packing, to transportation execution-enabling speed, accuracy, and flexibility at scale.

You'll be joining a mission-critical function driving fulfillment innovation, operational agility, and omnichannel readiness. The work requires tight collaboration across engineering, operations, data science, and product, with a focus on building resilient, scalable, and extensible systems that power physical movement of goods.
What You'll Do
  • Drive the multi-year technology strategy for Fulfillment Lifecycle Orchestration, balancing near-term execution with long-term architectural flexibility
  • Lead multiple software development teams delivering complex distributed systems for inventory flow, order orchestration, and fulfillment optimization
  • Own all aspects of the software development lifecycle: architecture, design, delivery, reliability, and maintenance
  • Coach and grow engineers and engineering leaders; develop a strong bench of technical talent while fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain Operations, Retail Ops, Product, and Data Science to ensure our fulfillment platforms solve real-world logistical problems at scale
  • Champion technical excellence through setting and reinforcing standards in system design, reliability engineering, and agile delivery
  • Facilitate architectural decisions, tradeoff analyses, and system evolution conversations with a clear understanding of fulfillment constraints and performance KPIs
  • Continuously push the boundaries of what's possible in scalable orchestration, automation, and decision-making in physical supply networks
We Are a Match Because You Have:
  • A track record of pragmatic leadership in complex, high-scale software environments-ideally within fulfillment, logistics, or supply chain technology
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading high-performing teams and engineering managers
  • Deep experience architecting and scaling distributed systems with real-time orchestration, workflow engines, or event-driven architectures
  • A passion for mentoring talent and fostering inclusive teams; proven success hiring and developing engineers and leaders
  • An ability to connect technology decisions to business impact-whether it's faster fulfillment, reduced cost-to-serve, or higher on-time delivery rates
  • Comfort working across functions, influencing without authority, and driving decisions that balance technical, operational, and customer priorities
  • Familiarity with fulfillment systems such as WMS, OMS, routing engines, or real-time logistics platforms is a plus
