Summary:

The Development Manager I is responsible for the day-to-day aspects of utility-scale renewable generation project development, including project identification, site control, due diligence, and overall development of utility-scale energy storage projects from greenfield to financial close.

This role will be hybrid requiring 3 days in office and 2 days working from home.

Requirements:
  • Coordinates with internal RES teams to apply fundamental site selection criteria (land ownership, resource, and revenue potential, access to existing transmission lines, constructability, etc.) to identify prospective project sites.
  • Directly engages landowners to determine interest in project participation.
  • Leads all commercial aspects of land acquisition negotiations and coordinates with legal counsel to negotiate and execute land control documentation.
  • Plans and manages land acquisition strategies, including management of external land acquisition contractors.
  • Represents RES America Developments Inc. in community settings and in front of individual landowners and large landowner groups.
  • Coordinates with RES teams to manage and conduct environmental due diligence and permitting work.
  • Coordinates with RES teams to manage and conduct interconnection/transmission processes.
  • Coordinates with RES engineering and construction teams to conduct constructability due diligence.
  • Generates project budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and stage gate approvals.
  • Manages a portfolio of dozens of utility-scale energy storage development assets.
  • Assists in any power marketing activities or project sales.
  • Maintains a deep understanding of regulatory and market forces for their developing regions.
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Manages the contracting of, and regular engagement with, various service providers essential to de-risking of development projects. This includes the solicitation of competing proposals, vendor selection and contracting, and the oversight of cost, schedule, and deliverables in compliance with contract.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Support continuous improvement activities as identified and needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, law, engineering, or a related field required.
  • 1 or more years of project management experience required OR
  • 1 or more years' experience in large-scale commercial project development, real estate, or land acquisition required.
  • Ability to travel domestically 16-30% required.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license.
  • Advanced Skills in MS Office and Outlook.
  • Project Management - General understanding of managing multiple priorities to a typical schedule.
  • General Real Property - How to determine surface ownership using public records, lease/easement/crossing/mineral negotiations.
  • Permitting/Environmental/Tax - General understanding of environmental studies and risks, how to discern the reports to identify the next steps. A general knowledge of local, state, and federal permitting processes, stakeholder roles and responsibilities are required. A general understanding of local, state, and federal tax incentives.
  • Interconnection - General understanding of the grid, interconnection process, and risk.
  • General Electricity Markets - General understanding of the ISO electricity market structures, services, and products, including energy, capacity, and ancillary markets. General knowledge of utility rate base structures and the functioning of vertically integrated energy companies.
  • Finance - General understanding of a financial model's workings, key inputs, outputs, and interdependency. Knowledge of and ability to assess the economic impact of decisions on project economics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of technical aspects of energy storage projects, design, engineering, degradation, etc.
  • Functional competencies include drive, attention to detail, learning on the fly, teamwork, and communication.

Anticipated base salary range: $82,000 - $101,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
