We are seeking a Dentist to provide quality, competent, safe and compassionate care based on established standards in a patient-focused preventative and restorative dental care. The Dentist will work in collaboration with team members to implement a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care to achieve expected outcomes and comply with BSFHC Mission.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performs root canal therapy on anterior teeth and other teeth where root canal anatomy is within the skill set of the dentist.
- Reviews findings from full mouth periodontal exams to diagnose periodontal disease and design a periodontal treatment plan.
- Takes impressions and models of jaws and teeth in preparation for dentures and crowns.
- Consults with heads of other patient care services in planning the most appropriate dental treatment to be used and coordinating patient problems (behavioral, medical, etc.).
- Extracts infected or otherwise diseased/hopeless teeth.
- Provides preventive dentistry counseling, anticipatory guidance, evaluation of nutritional status, and oral hygiene habits of patients, with or without the aid of a dental hygienist.
- Locates and repairs cavities in teeth, following discussions of findings with dental radiographs to formulate a treatment plan.
- Completes examination of the patient's teeth, gums, and surrounding structures using a mouth mirror, dental explorer, periodontal probe, dental instruments, and other diagnostic aids such as dental radiographic images from dental x-rays. Clinical findings are entered into the patient's eCW medical record to formulate and carry out the most feasible plan of treatment.

Other related duties
- Requires the ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, races, sexual orientations and gender identities or expressions.
- Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all patient, clients, proprietary, and protected information.
- Employees are accountable for meeting performance standards of their departments. They participate in compliance audits and quality improvement plans.
- Education - provides health teaching to staff, patients and families, participates in development and delivery of educational programs for area health care providers.
Education/Experience Required:
- DDS/DMD, current active NYS license, board certification in Dentistry
- DDS/DMD from an accredited University
- 5 years' experience in dentistry with root canal and extractions.
Other Related Skills/Experience:
- Experience working in community-based health care settings is also preferred
- Experience/An understanding of EMRs is helpful.
- The ability to demonstrate teamwork and effective interpersonal relations skills is imperative.
- Excellent written/oral communication and computer skills are required.
- Ability to foster and maintain a positive working relationship in a multidisciplinary team and clients
