Our company's Research and Development Division's Global Sites Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Director is responsible for development and execution of EHS programs for the Boston, Cambridge, South San Francisco, San Diego, London Discovery Center, Schachen and TMRC/Norbio - Singapore sites. The EHS team supports research laboratories, clinical manufacturing, facility management and office areas for global teams. The Research and Development Division Global Sites EHS Director is a member of the Research and Development Division EHS Council and collaborates with key divisional site leadership including regional and global Research and Development Division and Global Workplace & Enterprise Services (GWES), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, policies and procedures related to EHS. As a member of the Research and Development Division EHS Council, the EHS Director helps to develop and drive the multi-site strategy.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Expected US salary range:
$153,800.00 - $242,200.00

As a member of the Research and Development Division EHS Council, the EHS Director helps to develop and drive the multi-site strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as EHS Point of contact for the Research and Development Division EHS Council and Research and Development Division Global sites and their leadership team. Monitor trends, conduct statistical analysis, identify improvement opportunities and communicate with senior leadership focused on influencing EHS performance improvement and injury reduction.
- Support site teams on planning, developing, implementing and maintaining EHS programs to ensure compliance with local, state and federal legislation. Understand and mitigate risks across environmental, health, safety, and sustainability (EHS&S) opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement with respect to adoption of digital solutions and increasing team productivity.
- Identify, retain and develop talent.
- Manage experienced team of EHS Site Leaders across different countries.
- Build network of EHS sponsors within the business, site support functions and global organizations.
- Serve as a member of the Research and Development Division Capital Request Committee (CRC) to ensure compliant investment in capital projects across Research and Development Division sites.
- Serve as a member of the Research and Development Division above-site initiatives, including Chemical Inventory Management (CIM) team, Laboratory Asset Management Process (LAMP), Research and Development Division Capital Management (iCAM) and Lab Inspection program.
- Support completion of required reports for the sites with respect to divisional and regulatory agency requirements.
- Manage budgetary & capital needs to support EHS initiatives, projects and programs.
- Collaborate with the GWES & GES Management team to evaluate the requirements related to EHS for new projects and processes as well as changes to existing equipment/processes.
Education:
- Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering or Physical Science Degree Required
- Post-Graduate qualification preferred
- CSP, PE, CIH, CQA preferred
Experience:
Required
- 10+ years EHS or related experience.
- Direct responsibility in managing a team of professionals.
- Strong project management skills, supporting multiple activities/projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrated skills in complying with one or more regulatory programs including Chemical Management, Industrial Hygiene, and Biosafety.
Preferred
- Demonstrated experience in leading and building a global and culturally diverse team in multiple time zones
- Experience with setting strategy. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization on technical issues and multiple priorities.
- Experience implementing a change in an organization - Change Execution Management skills.
