Fabric Genomics provides end-to-end genetic analysis for hospital-based, academic, and reference laboratories. This includes quality control, triage, case interpretation, variant classification, and reporting within a CLIA/CAP regulated environment. We review thousands of genomes, exomes, and panels each year and work with some of the top institutions
in the world.

The Role

As the Operational Specialist for the Fabric Clinical department, you will help the Vice President of Clinical Operations oversee the operational responsibilities of the team to ensure tasks relating to interpretation and reporting of genetic test results are performed efficiently and accurately, support onboarding of new customers and tests, manage projects of various scales, and provide general support for this growing department.

Responsibilities

  • Operations Support (approximately 50% of effort)
    • Act as daily and weekly "air traffic controller", proactively identifying available tasks from across multiple workspaces and balancing the workload based on available personnel
    • Monitor production metrics to ensure the team is meeting turnaround time expectations and to identify quality issues as they arise
    • Perform QA, QC, and data management activities based on provided protocols
    • Support activities related to quality management, including documentation of compliance, corrective actions (CAPA), training, and competencies
  • Project Management (approximately 45% of effort)
    • Working with a cross-functional team of field application scientists, genomic scientists, and customers to support on-boarding of new customers and adding new tests to existing customers
    • Coordinate testing and validation of software updates
    • Gather feedback for product development of the Fabric Enterprise platform
  • Administrative assistance (approximately 10% of effort)
    • Assist with scheduling meetings
    • When attending meetings relevant to Operations Support and Project Management, record meeting notes and action items
    • Assist Vice President of Clinical Operations with other general activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a scientific field
  • Familiarity with genetic testing, laboratory testing, rare diseases, or other medical related fields preferred but not required
  • Demonstrable project management or operations support experience
  • Project Management Certification preferred
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and organizational skills
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving
  • US Citizen or permanent resident

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer/laptop and occasional standing or sitting for extended periods
  • Duties may occasionally require working shifts, weekends, or overtime

Job Features

  • Full time
  • Flexible hours, typically M-F during Pacific time zone working hours
  • Hybrid strongly preferred (office is in downtown Oakland, California); fully remote candidates will be considered
  • Pay: $75,000-$115,000 per year based on experience level
  • Eligible for yearly bonus based on company performance after completing 1 full year of service
